The hotel delivers what it promises. Nothing too fancy. Good location close to the train station and acceptable price. It's somewhat old and there is no elevator, however I thought the room I was given was clean, large, and decent.
The room was clean as was the bathroom. The staff were efficient and friendly. Although the window faced the Main Street, sleeping was not a problem. As other reviewers have noted, the breakfast selection was minimal but sufficient.
I don't understand why other reviewers have complained about the lack of an elevator. None of the rooms is more than two floors above ground level. In my humble opinion people who cannot carry their bags up two flights of stairs in order to save on a 27 Euro per night hotel room perhaps should reconsider the amount that they're schlepping along with them.
The room is spacious and the breakfast is basic. And this is the strengths of this place! Although it is currently a hotel, it is clearly evident that it was once a residential or pension. The reception is tiny and barely fit two people and you can not even carry a lot of luggage to the check in, and there is no lift. The room was very hot and full of mosquitoes, Noisy AC even turn off. Badly clean bathroom with holes in the shower filled with brown liquid, looks like bacteria buildup.
The lobby is small and not very inviting, with sort of a mish-mash of furniture and computer for guest use. Oddly enough, the rooms are much nicer than expected after seeing the lobby. The room was a good size with air-conditioning and older furniture, but nicely decorated and with decent linens on the bed. The bathroom was also a good size with nice towels and tile floors and walls. There is an armoire, nightstands and luggage rack to round out the furniture, a bit old but still in decent condition.
There is no elevator. There is free underground parking around the corner, but no lift into the hotel from there either.
Breakfast was included in the rate. There was a nice coffee machine dispensing espressos, coffees, chocolate milk, hot water and another machine for some kind of juice cocktail. Cereal and milk are provided, along with a nice assortment of breads and cakes, all nicely displayed along with a selection of jams. Cheese, ham and yogurt were also offered.
Situated across from the railway station on the main shopping street near to restaurants, this hotel represents great value for money. The clean rooms are a little on the small side, but as we only use them to sleep in, I don't see this as a negative. The 4 piece bathroom had plenty of toiletries, a hair dryer and space to hang things. The wardrobe was quite big with a safe and extra blankets and pillows. There was a good size mirror, a small table and chair and a couple of bed side tables. Lighting wad good and the windows were big too. There was a television with English speaking channels and wifi was very good in the bedroom.
Breakfast was good with a choice of muesli and cereals, soft rolls, bread and cake, ham, cheese and preserves. There was a good selection of hot and cold drinks and the coffee was actually quite decent. We stayed in January and it looked like you could eat on the veranda in warmer weather. The hotel staff were very pleasant.
The only negatives were there was no lift, but the staff took our bags to the room and there are only 2 floors after the ground floor. The car park is underground and parking is extremely tight and limited, I would strongly recommend securing a parking place on booking, if you are traveling by car.
