It's complicated when searching for the location from Googles. The easiest way to get there, is actually by getting local buses from the main station. They have no bathroom inside the actual guest rooms, while the public bath & onzen is available till mid-night. Somehow, their restaurants finish early, around 8pm... Noting much available around the area...
Highly recommend their excellent (6 stars) service.
I left my jacket in the wardrobe of guest room during my stay from Apr 17-18, 2017. After sending message to the hotel, I got their prompt reply and found my jacket. I requested their help to send back the jacket to me in HONG KONG and billing the courier cost to me. They said that they pay the courier cost without any problem.
Finally, I received the jacket by this afternoon.
Thanks again for their excellent service and prompt action.
I also enjoyed very much for the western style set dinner in the hotel. No wonder can have such a great dinner of western style at a Japanese hotel.
Will visit this hotel again!
We arrived during heavy snow fall and the next morning there was about 50cm of fresh snow! Amazing view from the room, from the breakfast room and around the hotel. Only Western style breakfast was available the morning we were there, don't know why. Reception was friendly and all kinds of stuff available to use (snow boots etc.).
Huge entrance hall, but the hotel was virtually empty (or so it seemed).
Good onsen in the hotel, with a small outdoor bath (which was amazing with the freshly fallen snow). Japanese style room was OK for 2, but definitely not for 4 (it's listed as being big enough for 4). The futon was very thin, so not very comfortable. I did expect a better quality of futon for this kind of hotel.
But overall, very good service and good value!
I had a one night stay at the Kuroyon last week - it is the perfect place to spend the night before a trip across the Tateyama - Kurobe alpine route (the hotel is well catered to provide all the info you need).
The hotel is huge and we had the biggest room of our whole trip to Japan - it had two double beds in it (American style). The hotel was quiet when we went (midweek) so we really had the place to ourselves.
The hotel has a beautiful spa - not ultramodern - but very clean and a large indoor swimming pool. It also has a shop onsite which is quite quaint.
We ate in the Western restaurant in the evening fancying a change from Japanese cuisine and the fish we were served was very well cooked - and would be a good plate of food even if served in a mid-range London restaurant.
If you are planning on doing the trans-alpine route you could do a lot worse than staying here the night before. I highly recommend.
We are a family with two teens driving through the mountains from Tokyo to the Japanese sea. Kuroyon has been a luxury stop on our way. Incredibly large rooms with all the things you get to expect from the better japan hotels: kimonos, large bathroom with toiletries, kimonos, living room and (empty) fridge.
You will need a car if you stay here because it is secluded and 10 min drive from the village. Hotel has an excellent french style restaurant, maybe a bit pricy at 15.000 for a 4 course menu.
We were 1 week to early to enjoy the swimming pool and 9 hole golf course. They are Only opened as of 3rd week of april.
Altough rudimentary english, staff is incredibly friendly and ready to assist you with anything you ask for.
