Bars & Clubs
This is my favourite location for relaxed (but sophisticated) cocktails in Dubai. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I have been here by myself and it did not feel awkward. Oh, and you get a great view of the Burj Khalifa tower.
If you are looking to impress a certain person then this could be the location for you. Great view over Dubai (and the Burj Khalifa), an extensive drinks menu and stylish décor. The food isn't bad either.
This location is VERY trendy. It was full of beautiful people wearing stylish clothes and dancing to a mix of tracks 'spun' by a DJ. The staff are very friendly but there is a minimum spend and it does get very busy on the weekends.
The first rooftop bar I went to in Dubai. It is smaller than some but still worth a look as it is more low key. The view along the Sheikh Zayed Road shows the hustle and bustle of modern Dubai.
Located just across the way from Dubai Mall, this is a lively venue which plays music and has both an indoor and outdoor area. Lots of seating and places to lounge. One more for the younger people possibly, as it gets quite loud.
If you are in Dubai on a Friday then this is the brunch to do. It's expensive (500 AED at the time of writing) but there is unlimited Bollinger champagne, great food and a great atmosphere. The party continues outside on the terrace afterwards with a DJ and buckets of beer. Hard to beat!
A perennial favourite. The Irish Village has such a relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff that it's hard to beat as a more low key drinking venue. Don't let the stereotypical Irish pub theme put you off. Give it a try!
The Village Terrace holds buffets several nights a week with a live band. The atmosphere is very relaxed. If you are staying at the Meridien, it is just a short walk around the hotel. If you have arrived in Dubai late and are en route from the airport to your hotel, stop in here for dinner, it's practically at the airport anyway!
Not strictly in Dubai but a short ride away in Abu Dhabi. This is my favourite rooftop bar in the region. It manages to be stylish yet relaxed, the staff are attentive but not hovering, the music is just at the right level so as to fill a void but not be intrusive. It's a combination that is hard to beat.
