  • Seasons: Spring, Summer
  • 1. Glencolmcille, county Donegal, Ireland

Beautiful scenery in this traditional village where the guiness is flowing and the craic is mighty! The napoleonic watch tower on Glen head is the perfect place to take in views of the stunning coastline.

  • 2. Slieve League Cliffs, Kilcar, County Donegal, Ireland

These are the highest sea cliffs in Europe (yes bigger than the cliffs of Mohair just less well known) and they shimmer orange and gold in the sunlight! An impressive sight no matter how well travelled you may be!

  • 3. Port, County Donegal, Ireland

This is a tiny abandoned fishing village which was populated until the 1950's. All that remain are the ruins of a few houses and a lovely cove. If you climb up the head land there are stunning views of cliffs in either directions along the shore!

  • 4. Biddy's Bar, Glencolmcille, County Donegal, Ireland

This is a two room bar with great music and good drink! If you abit of fun you're sure to find it here.

  • 5. Nancy's, Ardara, County Donegal, Ireland

This place is legendary. It has the nicest take on a smoked salmon sandwich i've ever experienced, known as the louis armstrong its fabulous. Rural irish charm and great food with the feeling of stepping back a hundred years to experience the real ireland! Just the way it should be!

  • 6. Silver Strand Beach, Malin beg, Glencolmkille, county Donegal, Ireland

Aptly named, this beach looks more like something taken out of a caribbean ad campaign than somewhere you'd think to see in Ireland. Beautiful white sand, crystal clear water (pretty cold admittedly) and a beautiful wall of cliffs, waterfalls, and mountains surrounding it make for a stunning setting. There are a hundred or more steps down to it but sure that just adds to the adventure!

  • 7. Dooey Hostel, Glencolmcille, County Donegal, Ireland

This fabulous hostel is situated in glencolmcille overlooking glen head. It has a grass roof and most of the rooms have stunning views. Mary and Leo, her son, who run it are two of the loveliest people you could ever meet and are sure to give you a true Irish experience. You'll never forget this place and probably want to keep coming back for years (just like i do).
