Arriving at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai

Cheap flights to Mumbai give you direct access to the thriving metropolis formerly known as Bombay. Mumbai flights land at the sprawling Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, a busy location that's incredibly close to the city centre. Once you have found one of the many cheap flights to Mumbai and landed, you'll have plenty of options to get to your final location. You will have two different public transportation options: rail and bus. Luckily, both of these routes can take you directly into or out of the airport. Visitors can hail a taxi or rent a car from Chhatrapati Shivaji or track down an auto-rickshaw, a three-wheeled cab that will operate within limited areas of the suburbs.

Getting Around Mumbai

If you do not want to rent a car to get around Mumbai, public transportation is another viable option. The city's extensive railway system operates on three different lines: central, western and harbour. The railway traverses to most of areas in and around Mumbai. You can pick up the needed passes at any one of the railway stations. There are also many bus routes that cross the city which you can also make use such as the Mumbai Darshan sightseeing bus for an easy way to see sights like the Hanging Garden and Boot House. There are several very congested roads and highways which travel throughout Mumbai where you can also rent a taxi within the city to get to your next destination. Some attractions and regions will also be serviced by ferries at sea, so you should check at your hotel to see if this is a viable option for your travels.

Attractions in Mumbai

If you are a movie buff, Mumbai is the place to be to soak up Bollywood. Be sure to take in one of the many Indian-produced movies at a local theatre, and then head out to "Film City" to see where all of the movies are made. Also, visit some of the extraordinary religious structures that dot the city, too. The Haji Ali Dargah Mosque, is located right in the middle of Mumbai and  is one of the most beautiful sites in the city. Visit the grand Siddhivinayak Temple, serving the city's Hindu population. Museum buffs can check out the artwork at the National Gallery of Art or the Jehangir Art Gallery or explore India's history at the Prince of Wales museum. If you are travelling with kids, you can head to one of the local beaches to soak up the sun, or journey to the Essel World Amusement Park.

Shopping, Dining and Nightlife in Mumbai

Mumbai flights will bring a traveller in to an exciting world of shopping, dining and nightlife options. The best clubs and bars in Mumbai can often be found in the Bandra and Colabra sections of the city, so you should head there if you're ready to drink and unwind after a long day. You can also take in a performance at the Prithvit Theatre, or see a musical act at the National Centre for Performing Arts at Nariman Point. Mumbai is also perfect for the cheap ticket traveller who wants to sample some of India's finest dishes. Do not leave without tasting a local pani puri dish or batata vada, and head out to Fifty Five East or Indigo for a more upscale meal. Shoppers can find trinkets and treasures at the Chor Bazaar or Crawford Market, or can head down to the waterfront district to discover internationally-renowned brands and stores. Cheap airfares to Mumbai pay off big in cuisine choices, shopping and entertainment opportunities.
