Arriving at Daman, India

With cheap flights to Daman, India readily available, you have the perfect excuse to visit the city. Daman is a territory located in the state of Gujarat. This city is not as well known as a tourist destination, but locals to the region come to it for its access to the beaches.

To get into the area by air, you will need to fly into one of the larger cities in the area. Many people arrive to the area through Mumbai, which is 170 kilometres away from Daman by bus. There are daily cheap flights to Daman from Gujarat State Airlines that connect to each of these cities. There is a small local airport available in Nani Dama, which brings visitors into the area. However, direct international flights are not available.

Getting Around

For those who enter the city, getting around is not too difficult. With cheap airfares potentially available, you may want to rent a car. However, this is less common in this area. The road system throughout the city is easy to navigate.

You'll likely want to secure a different option. Auto rickshaws are one of the more popular choices. These are inexpensive and the fastest means of transportation throughout the city. There are also some buses available in the city. These bus lines run between Daman and the surrounding towns as well as local routes. Many times, tourists will use bikes or scooters to navigate the streets. You can rent these locally and easily get around as a result. Many locals use this mode of transportation.

Main Attractions

Once you book Daman flights, the next step is to plan on what to see and do. This is a smaller town, and it is not a tourist-centric town. Yet there are many things to do throughout the city. Plan to visit Jampore Beach, Devka Beach, and Pargola Garden, all of which provide ample access to the water and water sports. You may also wish to visit Mirasol Lake, a popular destination for tourists.

There are various temples and old churches in the area. Since the city was a Portuguese colony for hundreds of years, there is a strong presence of Portuguese architecture. The Church of Bom Jesus and the Chapel of Our Lady of Rosary are there, both of which are old churches with detailed architecture. Also impressive is Fort Moti Daman, an old fort that's no longer functional, but available for tours.

Shopping, Dining and Night Life

After you've found one of the many Daman flights, plan to spend some time seeing the sights and enjoy the locals. Keep in mind that there are some restaurants and nightclubs near the beach area, including some of the best seafood in the region. You can also enjoy meals at some of the hotels in the area.

A few local shopping centres are available, some with local artisan crafts. Since this is a portion of India that allows alcohol, there are also a number of local bars. These can make for the perfect way to end the day after a long day on the beach.
