Is the area around the hotel safe?i read a couple of reviews that mentioned the word "seedy"
I am in my late 50s and wandered around alone happily during the day and night and encountered no problems whatsoever. It's just that some properties near look like they've been abandoned or not finished refurbishing. There is absolutely nothing seedy about this area. The locals are friendly and helpful and courteous to all visitors.
Sorry for late reply, in answer to your question is it seedy the answer is no, its off the main road along a small road that has houses on both sides there is a hotel next door that is in the process of being refurbished.
I think the post that you have read saying it's seedy is a little harsh, it's just a dusty road leading to a wonderful hotel it's all part and parcel of the Caribbean. go and see for yourself you will enjoy it . We are definitely going back very soon .
Not at all seedy , on the main road which we walked several times to St Lawrence Gap , not lit very well but we always felt safe
I appreciate the feedback. No need for the snippy comments though.
As per above answer this is a Caribbean island where expensive exclusive mingles with places where the local population lives, I have visited Barbados for the last 50 years and never had a problem stayed at Coral Sands in April used route taxis walked to nearby shopping and places to eat at night, as with everywhere in the world let good sense prevail, do not fraternize with people you do not know, do not wear your valuables in plain sight. If you do not want to see seedy then go stay in an all inclusive on the West Coast stay in your hotel and do not go out.
My wife and I felt very safe walking around. Not seedy at all
If you are happy walking down a public street you should be fine with the surrounding area. It is just off a main road (Sourh Coast Road) not all seedy in my opinion. But if you want an all inclusive shut away resort then might not be your thing.
