Hi i am planning to visit Harvard on July 10,2017. I just wonder how long does it take for us to tour the university. Thank
3-4 hours should suffice.
We just toured around on our own, we didn't go through an actual tour guide. We only took half a day, but depending what all you want to see, it could take a whole day.
As I mentioned in my review, it was a rather personal and ribald memory visit. A friend who had never been to the campus joined me, so we shared places of relevance to my experience. I assume that if you do museums, every building of architectural significance, the glass flowers, it could require to 4-5 hours.
I was there 2 weeks ago & spent 5 hours touring the AREA, including the University & Harvard Square (be sure to go inside Cardullo's Gourmet Shoppe) ~ then walked John F. Kennedy St. through the Park & across Memorial Drive to see the Charles River. At the entrance to JFK Park is a Legal Seafoods kiosk on the corner of the Charles Hotel, with friendly Servers who gave me tips about the area. If it's a hot day, I recommend you go to the Legal Restaurant inside the hotel, or Henrietta's Table ~ I really liked it too! If you have an iphone with the Google Maps App, it shows where you are & how far & how many minutes to each place. I wrote several Reviews. I hope this is Helpful & that you enjoy your tour!
Public transport is highly recommended. You may even drop off the Havard Square station to start with the main yard/campus. But if you want to tour around the law school in the north then the business school in the south, plus others and the museums, well it really depends on how much you love to see and how you want to see:-)
Although I did not take a guided tour, I would allow yourself a couple of hours so that you're not rushing around. It's easy to get to with the network links.
