Milton Keynes, United Kingdom

What are typical queue times? I am visiting with my family (5 of us) in May school half term holiday and not sure whether to purchase standard or express tickets.

Thanks

Hi Catans,

Thank you for planning a visit to our Observatory! Our wait times vary depending on the season and time you choose to visit. We recommend calling ahead of time to inquire about real-time wait times at (212) 736-3100. We also recommend arriving during our off-peak hours between 8-10 am, or after 11 pm to avoid peak hour lines and crowds. Additionally, purchasing tickets online ahead of time allows you to skip the ticketing line in the building, whereas our Express Pass permits you to skip all lines inside the building. We look forward to your visit!

Hi Catans,

Thank you for planning a visit to our Observatories. We strongly recommend visiting during our off peak times hours between 8AM-9:30AM or after 11PM, but please note that peak visiting times vary by season. We also recommending calling ahead of time to inquire about wait times on the day of your visit to determine whether or not Express passes will be necessary. We look forward to your visit!

We had express ticket - went around 11.00 and were escorted to lifts etc. ahead of the queues - well worth the extra money, in our view.

My son and I were up and out the hotel by 8.30am at the start of February for the short 15 minute walk from our hotel to the entrance at the Empire state Building. At that time there were absolutely NO queues at all, and after the necessary security scanning (like an airport) we were at the top in next to no time. If you aim to be there very early, near opening time, there should be no need for express queue tickets. Another bonus is there are less tourists at the top in the early morning, so you get closer to the edge to enjoy the views. Enjoy.

As for the days: avoid Fridays and Saturdays, these are the times when European and Asian tourists are loaded off by their travel agencies. Same goes for Sunday morning. But Sunday after 3 pm is a very good time, as well as Monday through Wednesday. Before 10am and after 3pm after perfect times for standard tickets. Hope that helps.

Depends of what you are going to see and at what time. By dinner time some queues where for ever. We had priority tickets which meant we could queue hop. Saved a lot of time.

Hi, in general there are queues all day long but maybe you can visit the Empire State Building early in the morning or late at night. The other possibility is the express ticket as you mentioned in the question.

Regards
