Are there good places for dinner near the inn?
Yes, town of Waynesboro minutes away with many choices like Stella Bella Lucy's Restaurant and Outback. You are also 20 minutes from Charlottesville with many-many restaurants. Iris Inn also has a few vineyards close by which they can recommend enjoy!
That was the only downside. Not enough dining choices. We did hit the outback one exit down. It was a good clean location.
Yes!! There are several fine restaurants in Charlottesville, about 20 minutes away. There is a wonderful highly rated restaurant at the nearby (5-10 minutes) Veritas Vineyard - the "Farmhouse at Veritas" with both prix fixe farmhouse dinners and a la carte menus.
Edelweiss Restaurant in Stanton if you like German/Austrian food very good, fresh and good prices. Also very nice atmosphere, two people played the accordion. More pretentious Veritas Farms Restaurant, in Afton, very nice location, very good food, meals matched with vine. Hope this helps.
None really close. The Green Leaf Grill in Waynesboro has good food and wine selection, but not much on atmosphere, unless you enjoy the old diner feel. The Blue Mountain Brewery is not far, and has wonderful outside seating with a great view of the mountains from the valley. But the best restaurants would be in Charlottesville. We had a wonderful meal at Travinia in Charlottesville.
The Green Leaf Grill in Waynesboro is excellent and the service is superb.
Re the previous posting, it's Zynodoa. Spell-check got it wrong.
Aoli in nearby Staunton serves tapas and small plates. Synods, also in Staunton, is a good farm-to-tablerestaurant with innovative offerings.
Yes, just last weekend we had a wonderful meal in Waynesboro that was on par with what we are used to for fine dining at home (Loudoun County). Great service and delicious food at The Green Leaf Grill. It's in an old part of town, but don't let that deter you!
Personally, unless you go to Charlottesville, I do not think so unless your expectations are fairly low. signed, a UVa grad 1990/94
yes there are great places in charlottesville and we went to the Brewery near the Inn.
There are hiking trails on the Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway which are close. Also you can visit the homes of four former presidents which are near by
That was the only problem that we got the restaurant and were exhausted from the day and had to drive into town to find a little restaurant that was not great but when you are hungry anything will do. Eat at a great place before you decide to get to the Irish Inn.
