How bad are the girls insects? If we are just staying by the beach for a picnic do we really need a bug spray?

The bugs are worse if it has rained hard to say don't wear perfume and carrying the spray is smart:)

I didn’t see any insects while at the beach. Did have ants crawling in me on the hiking trails.

We did not have much problem during the daylight hours. When it gets dark you definitely need spray! Hope for a breeze.

Hot , dry , calm days are the worst for bugs, We take a 'OFF Sprayer" it a small fan that holds some spray, look in the grocery store, they work very well.

We didn’t need bug spray while at the beach but that was 6 weeks ago. You’d be better off to throw in your bag and have it than be without it.

We were there with a Boy Scout Troop, camped overnight, and used bug spray. As other responders noted, the bugs weren't too bad, but recent rain, resulting standing water, wind direction and other variables will affect how much bug spray you need. I'd just plan to have it and use it to be on the safe side.
