Hi, thank you in advance for offering to answer a silly question. My wife and I will be visiting Normandy, Omaha & Utah beaches, and Arromanches next week. My question has to do with footwear. What would you recommend -- light boat shoes, sneakers, boots, water proof boots, etc.?
Hi - hiking shoes or sandals will be best, but sneakers are also fine. If you want to enter the sea (very cold) you need water proof shoes, but for sightseeing such will not be necessary.
Good closed toes walking shoes. Nothing too slippery, as the paths get slick in wet weather. So, your preference on whatever is most comfortable, weather permitting.
I hope my reply does not come late. Apologies for that. In any case, I think sneakers would be fine. That's how I walked everywhere in the beaches in the villages The area. Of course it was August. I don't know if humidity or rain make sneakers not a good option.
Arromanche itself is a large village
You can do that in your normal footwear. If you go onto the beach (seek tidal information locally) you may want to wear waterproof wellies / boots.
Arr 360 is an inside cinema - the only requirement here is the ability to rotate your head, not fall over (lean against a metal railing inside) and be prepared for several loud "shell" explosions.
