We are driving up from NYC early Saturday morning and want to get a full day of skiing in that first day before checking in. Can you let me know what ski resorts are more “on the way” from NYC as it looks like most are further North? We are both fairly advanced skiers.
I recommend you drop your bags at the hotel and continue on to ski at Bromley. Full disclosure--I grew up skiing at Bromley and prefer it to the crowds and more intense skiers at Stratton. It offers variety and has more challenging terrain is on the east side which is more limited than at Stratton but the mountain is easy to access and a shorter drive, less costly ticket than at Stratton. If you have two days to ski, I suggest you start at Bromley the day you drive up and then head to Stratton the next day if you want to compare. Stratton has a long access road to get to the base.
I don’t know about on the way from NYC, but in and around Manchester you could ski at Bromley and Stratton or Magic and be able to check in just fine later in the day.
Scott sorry I just saw this! I can’t answer this, I’m not a skier. I hope you found out your info.
I'm sorry Scott but I don't know the answer to your question. I would email the southern Vermont parks and recreation. They would probably be able to provide you with some good skiing information. Sorry and have a great trip!
I’m not a skier. There are at least 3 ski resorts within 10-15 miles of Manchester VT. I’m sure if you call front desk they would know level of difficulty. Sorry I’m not much help. We just passed the ski resorts driving around and on our way to MA. Enjoy your trip!
