Is it suitable for days with bad weather? I see that most exhibits are outside.
There is plenty to see inside as well.
There are just as many inside as outside, and outside would be fine unless it is really bad.
You must enter the "garden" area directly through the building. I consider the outdoor exhibits the best part of the Sculpture Center and would not advise going in bad weather. However, it is in Texas and the weather changes by the minute!!
Most of the sculptures are outdoor, so it is better to visit the museum when the weather is good. The indoor exhibitions are more for education purpose.
Most of the sculptures are outside and if it's bad weather (rain etc) you need to be ready for it. If you can reschedule I would if it's not an option I would not pass up the opportunity to view the museum it really is a wonderful place! I would just deal with the bad weather.
I would go anytime. It is a sculpture garden, but unless driving rain you can view all. The gift shop is wonderful too. Unfortunately the back famous structure will remain closed as a building now blocks the view, plus the shiny facade of the building is ruining the grass. Go while you have a chance, worth it. See fountain place too, little known but enthrall ing next to the adolphus hotel, DanKiley I believe, breathtaking,
Totally outside but due to the size if the sculptures & the uniqueness it is a MUST see!
probably not. There is a Dallas museum in the Big Red Building down near the Book Depository. Also, you can go up Reunion Tower even if it's raining - we were up there on a cloudy day and had a nice visit - nice lunch while it turned so you can see the entire city from every viewpoint.
Yes it is suitable because the weather wasn't good (chilly light rain) the day we went. There are many indoors exhibits and outdoor exhibits are protected from wind by high walls. Many of the outdoor exhibits are also partially shaded by trees. So unless it is pouring rain like we get with thunderstorms, a waterproof jacket and or an umbrella is all you will need to take your time strolling through the outdoor scupture garden.
Dvirs, this museum was designed by internationally acclaimed architect Renzo Piano. It has a specially designed glass roof w/a baffle system to filter the light of the harsh Texas sun & to protect the sculpture inside. Best viewed on a sunny day.
the sculpture garden is full of fantastic works that can be enjoyed year round. there's a really cool viewing room at the back of the sculpture garden that basically features the Texas guy....sky!
unfortunately, the last time I was there the room was closed. In the springtime the garden is especially beautiful
I would pass if it is raining. It's fantastic when it is sunny.
There are inside galleries of sculptures and architectural exhibits but the outside garden is a gem and I think you should go thrre on a sunny day to enjoy them!
When we visited in October there was an indoor exhibit as well.
I agree with the other posts. Unless the weather is severe you should
view both indoor and outdoor art. There's also a fantastic gift shop with items
of all price ranges.
