I was wondering if anyone can help me.
my husband and I are coming to Jersey for the first time in November I believe the tours are finished by then which the husband is very sad about! can you look about at all if they do not offer tours? and is it worth a visit without a tour what are you able to do there such as walk around vineyards/ wine tasting etc.. or is it just a restaurant and shop if so is it worth the trip?
we will be using the bus from St Helier and on the way stopping to do the War Tunnels so this is a little further up just wanted to know if it's still worth having a look around at? thanks Melissa
Thank you for your message. Our shop will be open through out November and December and from there we can offer you a tasting and information on our products. In fact, we offer every visitor a complimentary cup of our very own mulled wine in the run to Christmas.
We are also happy to show you and your husband some of the production areas, our cognac style distillery and you will be welcome to stroll around the vineyard should you wish.
Our restaurant will unfortunately not be open in November and December but we would be happy to recommend some nearby eateries.
We hope to meet you both in November.
La Mare Wine Estate
Hi Melissa, when you are at the bus station ask the information desk regarding the tour for La Mare, although it is a lovely place it would be no good if the tours are not on, but if they are defiantly go its well worth the day out and also there are two ponies on site you can feed if you want to I think they are called Bubble and Fizz, and the War Tunnels are really interesting so enjoy you say at Jersey its a brill place.
As far as I remember without a tour which includes wine tasting all you have is a shop and restaurant..
This is a relaxing attraction to visit, but in November it may be too cold to sit out and relax in the garden area. Walking the vineyards will keep you warm but pretty sure they will have been harvested by then. The main attraction here is the very good restaurant and wine tasting tour. So if you are happy to have a fine meal, good wine , short after dinner stroll you should enjoy the experience. Otherwise wait until the tours start again as it is about 45 mins bus journey from St Hellier for just a stroll and garden shop.
Although the restaurant and shop maybe open and a stroll around the vineyards, which is very pleasant I do not think my husband and I would wish to go without the lovely tour and wine tasting, which was very interesting and well worth the visit. May I suggest that you try and get in touch with them direct and ask whether there is a possibility a tour round the wine making process without the wine tasting as this may not be viable without a group of people.
We went to La Mare on the bus too and then took their in-house tour which explained the various wines and provided sample tasting as well as chocolate.
It was very good and well worth a visit.
We then had a meal in the restaurant which was excellent.
We visited in May and were blessed with great weather. We were able to walk around the vineyard and sit outside with a bottle of their lovely wine
