Hi there. We plan on walking the entire park slowly, so when entering the park when it owns at 10am should we go left or right? I assume it would better to go in the direction of better and more active animals while the heat and sunshine are not out at full force? And secondly, is the tram worth doing after we do the entire walk of the zoo? Thanks.
If you go to Miami in July it will be hot no matter which direction you go. We move left to avoid the bigger crowds who move right. Highly recommend the pedi-cab and not the tram. It helps you not run out of patience and energy during a full day. The pedicab will give also you a little shade. Bring the kids bathing suits for the splash pad .
The zoo is quite manageable on foot. Start either direction go clockwise or counter-clockwise. The tram provides convenience for families with little kids or seniors prefer not to walk too long. Nothing fancy, but in this weather it could also give you some cool air. Summer can be hot in Miami. Have fun!
Go left, you may want to rent a quad cycle, it came in handy, the park is huge and lots of walking. We didn't use the tram, it wasn't anything exciting, unless you want your children to experience something new.
We have never taken the tram at the zoo, this zoo is very walkable, it's not that huge. However if you are finished early enough I guess it doesn't hurt to take the tram and get a bird's eye view of the zoo.
it is very hot no matter direction you go, pack bathing suits for the kids.
Go right. That's the way we usually go to see the tigers and lions early.
We made the round clockwise, and I don't find a reason not to do so. I don't think your experience will be worse if you decide to walk the round counter clockwise.
I didn't do the tram, so cannot say if it's worth the extra bucks.
Thanks everyone! Looks like I should head left and check out the new Everglades area right away and then continue on.
if taking kids, there are wading areas for them. Bathing suits will be needed. I agree go left. Get to the bird cage where there are parrakets to feed by 12 noon or soon after. The birds are more active early when still hungry. They will feed from your hand, sit on your arms and shoulders. The tram is not so good. However, walking in the zoo can be exhausting. There are bike or peddle vehicles it are a bit pricey.
