Embassy Suites by Hilton Hotel Monterey Bay - Seaside Questions & Answers

Taipei, Taiwan

I have a reservation with Embassy Monterey for 3 nights starting May 21st. I am tempted to cancel my reservation due to the "major reconstruction" as described by reviewers. Bobcats, jackhammering, no water, dust... Will situation improve by May 21st? I don't mind the atrium, but are room renovations done? Fitness room? Pool area? Thank you!

Thank you for reaching out regarding your upcoming stay with us. Our suite renovation continues through the end of June and public areas are closed for upgrading. There will be some noise 10am-5pm and construction appearance throughout.

When I was there last week, about half of the rooms were done. I don't know when all the rooms will be done but I would ask the hotel. As noted by others as well, one of the problems is the regular shut off of water during the day. Apparently the plumbing system is not arranged to allow them to shut off only the floor on which work is being performed.

The contractors seem to be working later days (I think they are not allowed to start as early as they normally would). So, if you are on a floor where work is being performed, there may be noise and odors (paint, adhesives, etc.) into the evening hours. I know some in our group had problems with air conditioning systems not working and some had a major water leak problem one night (from the floor above).

Personally, I would not stay there until at least all of the room renovation work is completed. The atrium work is major but potentially less of a problem (only an inconvenience) than the work in the sleeping rooms.

I'm a loyal Hilton Honors member and generally try to stay at their hotels. That said, I was disappointed with the Seaside Embassy Suites. There are so many great hotels out there - I would seriously go elsewhere.

The rooms they put people in we're done and very comfortable. There was no loud and disruptive noise while we were there. The only inconvenience was water off from 10-5 so you had to shower etc the night before or be done by 10. Since we were sightseeing during the day that wasn't a huge issue. The location was good and the rooms were spacious. The other public areas were also available for use i.e.. pool, weight room etc.
