Has anybody tried booking direct via the Marriott website here? If you do, and choose a package that includes the resort fee included in the overall price of the room, the resort fee is added on regardless. I also see that the resort fee package deal includes free internet in the room and self parking - but these also seem like they will be extra changes according to the payment check out page. Not sure if anybody at the Marriott hotel monitors these Q&A, but clarity would be really helpful. The website as it is is rather off-putting when it comes to saying Charges X are included in the package - and then it adds them on ontop regardless.
I would call the hotel directly- I did and they were able to get me a better rate!
On check-in we were told that the wi-fi fee is part of the resort fee but has to appear separately
I book directly with Marriott as I am a member. I do however research to see what the best prices are to have a general idea and to learn if the place is worth visiting. It's a reference point and tool. Marriott honors AAA, seniors, gov't, and corporate discounts apart from their own incentives. You just have to do some research with them or any major hotel and see what's beneficial. Good luck. The place was great for us and hope it is for you as well.
Yes, call the hotel directly, especially if you plan to stay during the off season (think hot summer and early fall). The resort fee is added to all rates and packages, even free nights with Marriott Rewards points. This is a very frustrating development all throughout the world of travel. Not good!!!
