Gizeh Plateau Questions & Answers

My fiancé and I are getting married 11/11 and are planning to go to Egypt for our honeymoon. We leave 11/14 and to say the least my fiancé is worries about our safety. Has anyone visited Cairo recently, like wishing the last month or so?

I visited in May. It is safe as long as you don't go into isolated areas away from central Cairo.

Egypt is safe. We were in Cairo last Oct 20-22 and there is no problem on safety. We explore the pyramids at Gizah through camel and horse rides. We walked at night along downtown Cairo to shop. We enjoy the Nile River cruise with buffet dinner, belly dancing and atonara performances. We travel farther to Sinai Peninsula on Oct 23-25 visit the beautiful resort city of Sharm El Sheik, prayef at St. Catherine monastery and climb Mt. Sinai at 1AM and finally crossed the Taba Border to Israel. Never a time that we worried for our safety. We did enjoy our holiday in Egypt abdcwewent home with the #EGYPTISSAFE#

I'm Egyptian and I would love to assist making your stay as happy as your honey moon.. Egypt is safe, but you may not like the crowd or high dense populated regions in Cairo city.. I suggest you book your stay in El Gouna at any of the hotels there.. It's at the red sea coast and I'm sure you wouldn't forget it in your life.. It's like 4 to 5 hours by bus from Cairo... Don't waste much time in Cairo you will hate the crowd, but give it a day or two before you fly back to visit the Pyramids and the Egyptian museum... It's a must visit to all mankind on Earth. Happy wedding and enjoy your stay in Egypt... Regards to your fiancé... Tell her there's nothing she should fear.

Hello

We just went in October 2016. We felt very safe. Traffic is very contested. If you don't already have guided tours planned, I highly RECOMMENDED. Everyone is very helpful and friendly.

Good luck and best wishes for your marriage and trip.

Hello! It sounds like you have a lot of good answers. Just throwing in my 2 cents so you have more information.

I felt relatively safe in Cairo, however I had a local Egyptian toting me around which made me feel even safer. The Egyptians can be very aggressive with trying to sell you things, and they can even follow you around. I didn't feel any danger. Just a feeling of them wanting to hustle me :P

There are some areas that I felt were dangerous. They were more on the outskirs of Cairo, but those areas just look very shady.

The hotels are a little bit iffy - at least the ones I went to - so make sure that you check out the reviews on the hotels. Make sure you stay somewhere nice. I stayed somewhere cheap and had the worst time getting rid of the bed bugs while traveling.

Good luck, congratulations, and enjoy your stay! Egypt is beautiful. I also heard that the Red Sea is WAY better place to go to than Cairo. Do a little research and see if maybe you'll enjoy that more ;)

Thanks for asking this question as I'm also planning to travel in Feb 2017 for my HM. I get to know many good points from tourists and specially to plan for staying nearby to read sea as it's a good combination for dream trip.

I was just there four weeks ago. An amazing adventure and not to be missed. I felt very safe with no worries. I would go on a tour where the guide provides security. They have upped security at all hotels and sites, very proactive. Only issue was vendors trying to sell their wears. Just a polite "no" did the job. Happy honeymoon.

Hi, for a honeymoon I agree with the person who proposed going to a Red Sea resort. There are very nice resorts, el Gouna is one of them but the newest is called Sail Hashish. Egypt is safe but you may be frustrated in Cairo because of the traffic. So my suggestion is to limit your stay in Cairo to just a couple of days to visit the major attractions, pyramids, Cairo museum etc. you can also enjoy a Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor, I am sure you will enjoy that as well. Egyptian take good care of tourists so rest assured that you will be safe there and if you want to buy souvenirs bargain bargain bargain. Enjoy your trip.

Egypt is very safe and the Egyptians are the most hospitable people. I am not sure why the media insists its unsafe, not true whatsoever! I travelled as a single female, men are very respectful, it all was stable, I came back a week ago. Do not believe what you read on internet, as I have found most info on the net is really untrue. I enjoy every second of my trip!
