Hi, I have sent an e-mail to reservation a few minutes ago to enquire if there is a wedding on during our stay and requested a room away from the function area if there is. Also noted the comment about 114 @ 116, are these in the same area?
Really looking forward to our stay, want to chill, use the pool and have a drink and meal. Which are the rooms away from the above. -:)
We were situated not too far away from the leisure facility,it was very pleasant and away from the main reception and wedding reception area.
Suggest asking for the cottage appartment which although faces onto the road, is away from the function area. It was more like renting a cottage than staying in a hotel room, as did have own mini-kitchen. You don't want one close to the leisure club or over bar. There is a separate residents bar as well as the public one but neither are really noisy.
The train line is Carlisle - Newcastle mainly small diesel passenger trains about every hour and not through the night. There is an occasional very heavy freight train which slowly rumbles around
Choose the rooms near leisure facility, way enough from main reception and function room
We stayed recently and moved from above the bar, which we could hear There wasn't a wedding on and so I'm not sure where the wedding noise tends to be. I could be from guests as well of course. There is a train track at the back of the hotel and we did hear this early evening but it's not exactly a main line and only a coupe of trains went past. It is however a nice hotel and the food is good, there is a residents 'lounge' as well which is comfortable. The staff are very helpful. Have a good stay! Toni
I stayed in Room 118. I think it is above the main lounge at the back of reception. I'm not sure if they classify this as the function room. Looking at the pictures of the weddings on the actual hotel website, I'd say the function room is located away from the main building. I could sleep on a washing line so I wouldn't judge noise pollution from me. :0). Other members of my group complained they could hear the train passing whereas I heard nothing. The train station is nearby but I don't think trains are that frequent. May be 1-2 an hour.
If you're wanting a quiet room and haven't had a reply to your emails, I'd ring the hotel 01228 561888 they'd be able to but a note on your booking.
