Johannesburg, South Africa

Hi Griffin! Please give me suggestions on what to do on the first day near Olaias Park Hotel. We will be arriving in the morning and want something very laid back to do while we wait for check in time.

It depends on how tired you will be. There is nothing much around the hotel, but if you are up to it, you can either walk or take the metro to Alameda station (just 1 station away from Olaias) and see the Fonte Luminosa (you can google it). Walking will be around 10- 15 minutes. If that's not really your cup of tea, take metro to the Oriente station. Go to the Da Gama shopping Center. Check out the food court, as I am assuming you may want something to eat, and there are lots and lots of choices. You can even have a glass of wine there. Food and wine are cheap. Also, go to the basement level to the Continente supermarket to get supplies - water, snacks, etc. It is way cheaper than the Pingo Doce supermarket near the Olaias Park Hotel. Hope that helps, and have fun.
