We would like to go from The Corrie ten Boom House to the Mauritshuis Museum. When I log this into our TripIt app, it's giving me a transit time of 3.5 hours using public transportation. That cannot be correct. Can someone advise me on which train to take and from which station? Also, how long should we expect that trip to be? Thank you!
It's 15 mins on the train to Harlam and a 5 mins walk to the house
You are correct - it is not 3.5 hours long. The preceding replies all give great advice. I would also recommend you obtain the 9292 phone app - it was absolutely invaluable in getting around the Netherlands using train/tram/bus/walk. Visit the Mauritshuis website and there is a link there to obtain the 9292 app or just go to your app store.
Train ride from Amsterdam Centraal to Haarlem about 15-20 minutes, once in Haarlem, easy to catch a bus or tram to stop nearest the Corrie ten Boom house. I also agree with other reply - walk around Haarlem - it is a fantastic place. And, strongly recommend you go online and make a reservation for Corrie ten Boom house - we didn't and had to wait til another tour. Going from Haarlem to Hague would take you about another 20-30 min train ride. We did it from Amsterdam Centraal to Hague in about 45 minutes. Again, with the 9292 app, you can select the proper bus/tram to go from Hague Central to the museum. Very easy trip and highly recommend you go. Enjoy!
It was 25 or so minutes by train from Amsterdam Centraal Station. There are sprimters that rum past Haarlem from Centraal all the time. Just ask at the ticket booth if you have problems on the machine and it should be easy. Very doable and it's worth walking around Haarlem too.
Get the 9292 app on your phone. It will help you plan travel anywhere in the NL via public transport and walking routes. You can get it on iPhone or android. You can change the language to English.
We took the train from Haarlem to Leiden, we didn't go as far as The Hague. I don't think it should take more than 30-40 minutes. The Corrie ten Boom house is only a short walk from the Haarlem train station. Try to get tickets in advance to the ten Boom house. We didn't and on the third try finally got in. It was well worth it. Have fun!
I cannot exactly answer your question, but this might be helpful; we were recently staying in Amsterdam (May 2017) and rode the train from the central station in Amsterdam to the train station in Haarlem, it was about 15 minutes on Sprinter train, then to Corrie ten Boom house was a 5 minute walk, all flat and easy walk; we had a second train excursion from Amsterdam that went through Haarlen (we stayed on) and then through The Hague (we stayed on) where your Mauritshuis Museum is? (I have not been) and on to the town of Delft; this train route is very popular and there seems to be a train about ever 30 minutes; some trains make a lot of local stops and some just major towns like Amsterdam, Haarlem, The Hague, Delft, etc.; I seem to remember the Sprinter trains were faster and less stops; I think the train from Haarlem to The Hague would be about 30 minutes; once you are in The Netherlands, there is a lot of free wifi, even on the trains, and using Google or Google Maps, indicated trains and distances; Hope this helps; Do make a reservation for Corrie ten Boom house ahead of time, only takes groups of 20 at a time and only a few groups a day; there was a group of 18 from Jackson, MI with Ballet Magnifica, and we got lucky and got in with them; great visit;
