How easy is it to use the metro line? I haven't used it before and know little French. I would love to go to the Eiffle Tower and other tourist points but not pay taxi prices thank you.
Don't worry! It's really easy to use the metro line in Paris.
There is a wonderful app called "Visit Paris by Metro", very easy to use and it doesn't need any internet connection or gps: you only have to write where you are and where you want to go (eiffel tour, montmartre, Louvre, all places in Paris) and that app show you the faster way to go there... Even children could use it!
By the way, you should buy a "Paris visit card" that's a cheap ticket that let you use all the metros and bus that you want: I spent about 20 euros for 3 days and I visited many places in Paris, taking metro about 30 times in 3 days.
The key is to know the final station on the line as this ensures that you are going in the right direction once you know that it is very easy to use the Metro. Tickets can be bought for one journey or the least expensive is a carnet of ten which is 10 single use tickets. Machines are at every metro so you can buy by cash or card. Any tourist map will detail the Metro lines and so how to use the different lines to get to the attractions. Been going to Paris for 5 years never used a taxi and I find that the easiest way to get around is to walk in takes a bit longer but you see much much more.
