Where do I park the car? Suggestions much appreciated.
There's a number of parking spaces along the south side of Bishopsgate Rd
Englefield Green Egham, Surrey TW20 0YL Park up and walk through the gates to the park and your at the south end of the Long Walk. Its a great walk to the castle and all the delights of Windsor.
When I went I parked in the Virginia water car park and walked through from there. It makes for an even nicer walk. The car park is a bit expensive, I think it was £7 for the whole day. But there were plenty of spaces even on a busy Saturday.
There is plenty of free parking in designated areas off the Kings Road, on the route from Windsor to Ascot.
Engelfield Green - The Fox & Hounds. There is unrestricted on street parking thereabouts
It depends! If u r going to the Great Walk part of Windsor Great Park, then some of the roads to the left of the walk offer parking by meter.or if you start your walk from the Castle, then there are plenty of car parks in Wondsor town. However if you are going to the actual Windsor Great Park, then there are plenty of car parks adjoining specific areas of the park.
Saville Gardens car parks are best for the most picturesque part of the Park, where you can have curcular walks. There are more but not suitable for spending hours walking from/to them.
We parked at the Savill Gardens car park which was easy to find... according to their website (checked today) it costs up to £7... that car park is in a good location and idea if you plan on visiting the gardens as well. There are another 2 car parks according to the website and both are priced the same as the Savill gardens one. We did see one of the other car parks on our walk around the park and it was attached to the visitors centre, though I cant remember which of them that was. Both car parks we saw were quite large so a good amount of space.
1) Windsor great park is very close and has a shortcut that gets you roughly half way down to the walk.
2) There is a small car park right next to the great walk however this may become pricey.
3) The central town car park this is the best if you don't mind the walk back.
If your only viewing the great walk id go for option 2. However if your planning to walk the whole walk I would suggest 1 or 3.
