Rendlesham Forest Centre Questions & Answers

Chelmsford, United Kingdom

It is very many years since I last visited Rendlesham Forest, in fact it was shortly after the Great Storm in 1987 when all bar a few survivor trees were flattened - a very strange sight indeed! Would I be right in thinking that the area was cleared and replanted by the Forestry Commission and that they have now attained something close to their original height?

I'd also be very interested in any on site or local exhibition, that might provide pictures and explanations of the event. Thank you.

What we saw of the forest on our visit was lots of tall well established trees. Did not see any remnants of the 87 storm damage, so looks like everything back to normal.

I don't have any details of the storm there or of any local exhibitions, but perhaps another reviewer might be able to help with that. (We lost all our trees and fences at our home that night, but were lucky in that the trees did not fall onto our house)
