GO Transit is surprisingly cheap. Trains run from Hamilton to Toronto to Oshawa, where buses connect to Peterborough. Local transit in Peterborough connects from the Simcoe St. bus terminal to routes going to the Lansdowne Place Mall and Sir Sanford Fleming College. Local bus drivers could tell passengers where to get off.

Or the most convenient way is likely renting a car. The museum is just 1 hour 20 minute drive from either downtown Toronto or the Airport (Pearson). Depending on the size of your group, it might be cheaper too.

Go trains connect Toronto to Oshwa, the nearest train station. The Go transit buses then take you to P'bro city where one can use taxis. The other alternative could be greyhound buses from Toronto.
