Hi Tarra, We manage both currencies so it really comes to what you prefer to use. As traveler, sometimes you get a better exchange rate at your bank at home or when you use your CC to pay for things while in Mexico.

Our advise, exchange some money to pesos before your trip, enough for some cash expenses such as cab rides, street shopping, etc. The rest, including our hotel bill, can be paid with CC.

Pesos are best in my opinion. Take some with you and use the nearby bank machine if you need more.

When we stayed, we used a Credit Card to pay for our stay. The Credit Card Co. handles all the correct math currency conversion that is in effect for that day. Had we not used a Credit Card, we would have used pesos. If your flying in from another Country, there is a cash machine at the airport. You can get Pesos from there. If your already in Mexico, you likely have pesos to use. If you are using a Credit Card issued from a Country outside of Mexico, be sure to check to see if they charge foreign transaction fees. Some Credit Cards do Not charge these fees. If your Credit Card charges foreign transaction fees, I would suggest using pesos because those transaction fees can add up. If you use the right card (that does not charge the fees), you do not need to be concerned about added fees that offer you NO value.
