To people who have gone recently with the new revised travel warnings did you guys feel safe to and from the airport and also at the resort itself? Timeshare If you say no does service change? Thanks in advance.
We took a private prebookrd shuttle (thru the hotel) to hotel from the airport . The driver was fantastic, friendly and full of info. We travel into the hotel zone a couple times for shopping using the taxis at the hotel. Our taxi driver waited for us while we shopped a couple hours at no additional charge. Only the driving farr to and from. We never had any issue. We also took a taxi to the ferry for Isla Mujeres and no issues. Be aware of your surroundings just like your anywhere else in the world, Chicago, NY or any city and you'll be fine. We love Villa Del Palmar, you can read my review as well.
Glad that I could be of assistance no nothing has change we felt safe and very comfortable traveling to Mexico and to and from the airport and Resort and with the timeshare you don’t have to buy anything if you don’t want to buy and nothing will change just go there listen to what they have to say and just let them know you are not ready to to buy yet and that it they will try very hard to convince you but just stick to your word .Hope this will help you guys go and have lots of fun Enjoy
We traveled from the airport to the resort via a prebooked car coutesy of the resort/ We tool taxis a few times and felt safe. Overall the resort felt very safe. It is away from the very touristy hotel zone and nothing within walking distance of the resort so we mostly stayed there. We did go into Cancun to get the boat to Isla Mujures.
I used the hotel shuttle and felt safe using only them but please read my review and do not use Uber while there. I'm also not fond of taxis there now either ( read review). I have also had friends there being extorted for cash in rental cars too. I think the hotel and hotel shuttles make you feel safer but after my experience and all I have been reading lately, I feel much more aware of what can really happen there. Don't take anything for granted.
We last booked our ride directly thru the resort. They were waiting with our name on a sign clearly visible. Never did we feel unsafe. Yes, the do charge. We have also used Viator ( TripAdvisor affiliate) before without any problems. Methinks the travel warnings are much overblown. We're off to the sister resort in Cabo next June without worries.
