Read my review and you will enjoy your holiday with confidence knowing that UTI has a wonderful team to look after your children too, they will enjoy their holiday as well

Google: Atlantica Creta Paradise Hotel Crete / Thomsons. ( Book on line £400 cheaper than in-store.

I spent weeks researching on TripAdvisor reading reviews and viewing photographs and

Thomson’s own web site, then compared information on other web sites because I could not find all the information that I needed on one web site, not even Atlantica’s own web site.

Thomson instore price was £2,440 and Thomson online price was £2175.60 including choose own seats, we always select 2 x Isle Seats opposite each other which gives more width space, 14 nights All Inclusive flying from Manchester to Ioannis Daskalo Airport in Chania, flight time is 4hrs-10mins. We were delayed at Manchester and sat on plane for 2 hours, not Thomson’s fault. - 9th to 23rd June 2017. The pilot was in communication with passengers frequently not only waiting to take off but regular throughout the flight. It is very reassuring for passengers.

Thomson offer 20 kg per person baggage allowance and 5kg hand luggage (Great)

We had paid for a Double Room, north western facing inland view and from our balcony we could hear the waves rolling onto the beach, we were close to reception and all other amenities but away from any noise, we were very fortunate to have been allocated this room in the hotel where lifts are available, they do have rooms that are 400 meters from reception close to the main highway that has the bus stops to Chania. We are most grateful to the assistance from Joanna at reception who allocated this room to us. Fittings and Fixtures are not all the same in all the rooms of same type. At night time those with Sea Facing Rooms have the same view as ours (Night)

Thomson’s state in the brochure that this hotel has a Laundry, they have a laundry service where you can pay 20 euro for a full load of washing or individual item prices.

• Our Bedroom was fitted out as follows;

• 3 Door Wardrobe with drawers and hanging space 12 coat hangers light comes on when door opened, there is an ironing board in the B.I.C.

• Fitted safe 4 Digit select own numbers and instructions.

• Steam Iron is allocated at reception. No charge or deposit.

• Kettle, cups saucers tea spoons sachets of coffee, milk, sugar and Tipton tea bags.

• Flat Screen TV wall mounted remote control, news Channels in English – Sky – BBC World – Euro News – RTV- Al-Jazeera – USA channels and other channels.

• Bathroom has large mirror – large shower over bath with 4 optional level sprays. Glass Panel on bath edge.

• Hairdryer and circular magnified mirror.

• Push down plugs in both hand basin and bath.

• Large white Towels bath and hand per each person changed has required.

• Hand & Shower gel supplied for hand basin and bath. No other cosmetics.

• All floors are ceramic tiles washed cleaned daily with daily room service.

• All rooms have good lighting

• Balcony has table and chairs and clothes dryer wooden screens overhead, the balcony has tinted glass panels.

• Air-conditioner operates when sliding door is closed.

• There are 8 x 2 round pin continental electric plug sockets.

Beach & Pool towels are supplied free, changed every second day with a towel card, 10:00 a.m. to 16:00 p.m. the hotel has its own adequate large section of a clean beach, life guard on duty all day.- The beach is sand but on the sea edge it is pebble for about 3 meters then sand into the sea there are no rocks along the beach section, neither are there any shells.

Aqua Shoes or similar are highly recommended as the beach was hot, we averaged 32 degrees C -although a couple of days it dropped to 24 degrees, those cooler days were ideal for shopping. - There are 2 main swimming pools next to the beach one of them belongs to sister Caldera Beach hotel but both pools are used by both hotel holiday makers. There is a smaller pool in the complex close to the main road as well as a bar serving drinks and snacks. There are Snack bars serving food around the pools as well as drinks, the alcoholic beverages that are part of the All Inclusive are indicated with a star in the price list.

There is a 10 Hole Mini Golf course balls and clubs are issued at the apex bar next to swimming pool, you sign for them and they stay open until its dark. We found the course quite a challenge.

Main Dining Buffett, they claim that they showcase their food, they certainly do and the quality and choice is Excellent, Salmon -Swordfish – Perch- Cod and other names in fish really good, lots of choice on Beef, Lamb, Pork, Chicken, Turkey, hot and cold vegetables lots of variety on salads and so many different snacks even Sochi, the puddings /sweets were plentiful on choice, beer and wine on tap as well as fizzy drinks dispensed from machines, bread choice was good and unlimited bacon and the usual English Breakfast food

There are 5 different coloured ice creams and no shortage of children, they serve themselves, they are close to school age but not quite there yet. In the dining room is a section for Adults Only and the rest for all ages, not too busy when they open but full by 8 a.m. and at 8 pm they are queuing most nights, the hotel was full which is a good indication of how popular the hotel is, Thomson’s have a minimum of 6 trained staff full time daily to occupy your children and another 2 on selling tours and helping guests every day and they are really good at what they do, there is one Sargent Major at the pool and beach for adults more for the 20s and 30s exercising daily routine and what a following he has, he was really good at getting the crowds motivated and at the beach it’s Volley Ball for the fittest persons, some of my photos shows the beach empty, that’s how good the pools are. The Thomson Family Life staff recruited from UK are well educated and speak good English, I have been on some holidays where I cannot understand what the reps are saying, the British and Swedish Family Life young ladies are really stunning, - Sorry no photo’s.

Water is only available in bottles free from the main bar nearest to reception from 17:30 pm daily, seemed strange queuing at the bar with young children, bottled water for drinking is available at the bars and snacks outlets in glasses all day, Tap water is also very good too in the rooms as Chania provides much of the Spring Bottled water.

Buses to Chania are regular, the bus stop is on the main road 400 meters from the reception on the other side of the road, going East, to the left they are clearly displayed CHANIA and when returning the buses display KOLMBARI and you state your destination as Caldera Hotel. The cost is E2.20 cents each way for adults p.p. the minimum fare is E1.80 arriving at Chania get off at the Bus Terminus and walk about one km to the Old Chania shopping area and the harbour, there are masses of shops and restaurants. From the hotel to the Chania takes 40 mins each way on the bus, there is another shopping area less than 2km from the hotel at PLATINUS we are in our early 70’s and we walked in 20 minutes each way, out of hotel turn left past the mini supermarket and other few shops to the end of the road, turn left at Co-Operative Supermarket continue past ALDI Supermarket until you arrive at shops there are many shops and restaurants in one long street. - Back to the airport on 23rd we were met at the coach at the Airport by Thomson staff and Escorted right to our terminal, so easy and well planned.

This holiday we took our luggage to the airport at Manchester the night before, so instead of arriving at 03:00 a.m. to depart at 06:00 a.m. we could arrive at Terminal 2 at 4;30 a.m. and walked straight to border control looking down at all the queue of holiday makers, there was no charge for taking the luggage night before. We travel by train from Telford UK

A Really luxury holiday in a Four-Star Hotel.

I travelled alone with my 2 children and the resort does feel very safe. just be aware that the floors around the pools and snack areas get very slippy. We saw several children and adults fall over.
