Fukuchiin Questions & Answers

Is it worth it to book a non-smoking room if it's twice the price? My travel companion and I are not smokers, and we're concerned about the room being smelly.

Hi Tamara, We have just stayed in the smoking room, as non-smokers, due to the cheaper price. My partner found it smelled of tobacco, and a bit "musty", however I didn't find it very offensive. I would say, it doesn't smell fresh though. Perhaps that's just the whole building? The whole place is a little "musty"! As the other responder said, it would depend on how sensitive you are to the smells. Hope this helps!

Hi Tamara,

Throughout Japan, I would only book non smoking rooms as I am sensitive to the smell. Often, the smell would still permeate the room from the floor above, below , or the room next door. So, it depends on how sensitive you are. Rooms with tatami mats...absorb odors easily. -- I would compare the non smoking priced room to those in another hotel.

I hope this helps.
