Our flight is scheduled to land at 1535 (on 19 Oct). I see a ferry listed at 1700, and next is at 2000 (somewhat late). Would it be relatively easy to catch the 1700 ferry, or better to hotel in Singapore and catch a morning ferry?
Does/ can Club Med book the ferry journey?
Club med can pre-arrange ferry if you choose transportation from Tanah Merah ferry terminal.
Would recommend you stay at the Crown Plaza at Changi Airport for a night and catch a ferry around 1400 the next day. Most accom on the island has check in after 1400 anyway. Obviously only do this if you can push your accom on the island back a day. This way you are not rushed. It’s a great hotel, join up as a member, it’s free to join and you’ll get breakfast included. It’s got a great outdoor pool too. Club med can book your ferry for you and arrange transfers to the ferry. They will book you in emerald class on the ferry which is the best option. You get priority, don’t have to wait in queues and when you are returning you are first through customers otherwise it’s a long wait.
Sorry did not answer your 2nd part Re booking the ferry, they should be able to
As Long as your flight on time, you should be able to make it to the ferry terminal as it is very close to the airport
Suggest you book for the 20:00 hrs ferry, just in case your flight is delayed etc. If your flight is on time and you reach the ferry terminal in time (say about 30 minutes before the ferry leaves), you can prepone your tickets to the earlier ferry - they charge a nominal fee of SGD 5 per family for same. The change is done at the terminal itself and is a smooth process.
The travel agent can and should have booked the ferry for you. We were met at Singapore airport by a Club Med representative and taken to the Ferry Terminal. We caught the 20.00 ferry and arrived at Bintan at 20,00 as they are an hour behind Singapore. Again we were met by a Club Med rep and taken to resort. When we got to Club Med we were given a meal and drinks. It is good to pay extra for the Ferry and reserve your seats in Emerald Class. The first time we went to Bintan we stayed over night in Singapore. Much prefer getting to Bintan in the evening as you have a full day the next day. I suggest you ring either your travel agent or try Club Med them to book ferry etc. Enjoy your stay - we have only been back 2 weeks and want to go again.
Another thought. On your return to the ferry terminal after Club Med, we arrived back about 1800 hours and that is a difficult time to get a taxi to the airport if you are cutting it fine to get a flight. It is a busy time and change of shift for the drivers and they drive right past you if you haven't booked a taxi. We waited in a line for ages and finally got on a local bus (at the terminal) to the airport for $2 each, about 20 - 30 minute trip.
Hi. Re Club Med Bintan questions.
You would be cutting it fine to catch the 17.00 ferry if your flight arrives at 15.35. It takes about 10 minutes by Taxi to the terminal and that time of the day is starting to get busier, and about 20 minutes from the city. Club Med recommends you be at the Terminal about 1 hour before the ferry leaves and you have to go through immigration to Indonesia.
Our return ferry trip was included in our Club Med booking arranged through the travel agent, I am not sure if you could call Club Med to arrange it.
You could call the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal to book
+65 6542 4369 and you would need to advise Club Med of your arrival and departure time so they can meet you. It is a 15 minute bus ride to Club Med.
We stayed at the Furama Hotel in Chinatown which was great, very helpful staff.
Hope this is helpful Enjoy your stay, we loved it.
