How easy is to get to Trapani, Erice, Scopello, Egadi Islands (to the place to take a boat) from this hotel? Is it easy to find this Agriturismo and how was GPS working?
Also, there are many negative reviews dating back to 2010 and 2011. Has the property been refurbished since that time?
Thank you very much!
You will need a car to get anywhere. It's not far at all to Erice which is definitely worth the visit - an old walled city with a big castle (bring a sweater as it's up high!). Great views if it's a clear day. The GPS did work, but it took us on a roundabout way to go. Do your homework and know the general direction of where you want to go so you can validate the GPS is sending you in the right direction.
The agriturismo itself is wonderful! You really can't go by reviews from 5 years ago. The amenities are modern (outlets, good showers, etc.). The bed wasn't the most comfortable but that was on par with most of the places we stayed in Sicily/Italy with hard beds. The hosts are wonderful people and there is great history with this agriturismo. Ask them to show you their "museaum". Also, we arranged for a cooking class while there and it was wonderful! The pool is really large and a great place to relax. High recommend this agriturismo!
A lot of work has been done on this facility in the recent years. We felt it was fine. Some may not. The GPS took us to the driveway. Easy. The roads in the area are NOT busy, and the drive to points of interest were guided by GPS, often on back country paved road thru farm country, which we enjoyed.
The small staff couldn't have been better, and spoke English. This was one of my favorite locations of 5 we stayed in for a week. The room was a bit dark, as we had only a french door to the garden. These are ag buildings completely redone, with few windows. It's nice. Liked the food on site.
Hello. Everything you mention is pretty close by car. GPS works fine most of the time. Be aware in Italy there are many roads, big and small, between points A and B so GPS tends to optimize time or distance taking you through rural roads. Most of the time I would try to avoid that. Sicily back roads are not in the best shape and they are rather solitary. Carry a paper map or Google Maps to compare route proposed by GPS with what you see on the map and adjust accordingly. Property is in good shape but it is not luxurious at all. Adjust your expectations and there should be no problem. As explained in my review it's easier to reach the hotel from the north (state road) than from the south (highway).
Wanted to say "much appreciated" of course. Sorry for the typo.
