I am considering visiting next summer with my 3 year old and 1 year old in our tent. What are the safest sites to stay at with young kids? We LOVE beautiful views but also don't want to be directly next to the water or near a steep cliff/hill unless there's a protective fence. Thanks!
I have a question for repeat customers of MDC
My children and I will be there this coming July. We are avid campers and take a trip nearly every summer but have only been to Mount Desert Island once before, 2006. Our trip then we used a sub-standard campground. My question is - I have room to bring either a screen room to set over the pic nic table or an ez-up awning. One will help with bugs, the other with rain. Which would be more useful at Mount Desert Campground? I know the bugs can be bad in parts of the island, not at all in other areas. I appreciate your help! Any other suggestions for this campground would be welcome. I booked what site was available for us -A17 - but it was a shot in the dark as I had never been. I'm assuming you have to reserve a year in advance for the waterfront sites.
Are there any campfire rings? We love to have a fire in the evenings. I saw there were little grills. Could you have a small fire in them?
Does anyone have a recommendation for a waterfront site with a tent pad? There are so many to choose from on the map, what sites offer the best views? Thank you in advance!
Does anyone have more pictures of campsite E33? Also, if you don't have electric are you able to charge your phone somewhere? Thanks!
Two questions, bearing in mind that my party [next summer] would be 2 adults and two boys ages 6 and 9: (1) How "bike-able" is the area from this campground? Is it enjoyable/realistic to bike from the campground to the Acadia Park carriage roads? And/or to any beaches? It looks like we would have to bike along paved roads with no real shoulder and no bike trails. Is it [relatively] safe to bike, or not really? (2) The waterfront sites look gorgeous! But is there a convenient, comfortable place to swim? At least some of the waterfront sites appear a bit high up from the water (but perhaps that is tide-dependent). Is there any kind of beach? Or swimming from the dock? Thanks in advance!!!
I have a reservation for three nights July 30th - August 2. Unfortunately, I have to cancel. Will you reimburse my deposit of $70.
