Went on a 8 day/ 7 night Caribbean cruise on the Norwegian Breakaway. The ship was nice, and clean. Staff was very polite and friendly. We did have a mixup with our luggage and our room appeared to not have been cleaned. All issues were resolved very quickly. We had the free at sea package, which included free unlimited drinks, but there is a $140.00 gratuity fee for each person. But this isnt stated until you start booking. But unlimited is as many as you can drink, we definitely got our moneys worth. When we boarded the ship, our rooms were not ready, so we started our drink off immediately. The 66 bar in the Atrium was our bar of choice. I loved the Miami Vice, my Wife got hooked on the Mudslides. It included one specialty dining, we chose the Teppanyaki Japanese steak house. It was a great show with great food. Each passenger has 150 minutes of WIFI. We didnt come on a cruise to stay on our phones, so that was plenty for us. Just make sure after you are done using the Wifi, that you logout each time. Or your minutes we still be decreasing. Also each excursion there is a $50.00 credit to be used. but thats not 50 each passenger, just per room. The complementary food that is included for free, has the Garden Cafe (Buffet), the American Diner (Very Limited Menu), and four other dining restaurant (but three have the same menu). Service was great but if you want a variety, the buffet is it. But the buffet is busy and loud. the three restaurants are quieter and tables are spread out for more privacy. The Manhattan Room has live music. We booked each Excursion through the Cruise Line, it cost a little more but you can be assured that you will not be left behind. First port was Cozumel, Mexico. We booked the All Inclusive Play Mia beach excursion. Was great no complaints. they set us up in a chair and umbrella. and if I needed a drink, the server was close by and got it to me quickly. Very clean and well organized. Food wasn't bad either. They even have several shops onsite for souvenirs. Second Port was Roatan, Honduras. we chose the Fantasy Island All inclusive. It was twice the price we paid for Play Mia, but was only all inclusive available. The beach and water was beautiful but everything else was disappointing. we were an hour late getting to the resort and had to leave hour and a half early to make it back to the port. So a 6 hour excursion was a 3.5 hour. Server never would bring our drinks, said she forgot. so had to go get them ourselves. they only had Cranberry Juice or Orange Juice to chose from. Bar and pool area smelled like sewage and the womens bathroom had sewage backing up into it. Great place to snorkel but water dropped right off, so not much room to walk out into the water. Third was Harvest Caye, Belize. It is Norwegians private resort. Its not all inclusive, Souvenirs, drinks and food is very expensive. (Way over priced) Other than that, it was very nice, and clean. beach area is very long, so everyone was able to spread out. Water was not clear, so no snorkeling. We rented a clam shell to cover our chair and pick chairs under a palm tree. It was very relaxing. The ship was close, so could go back and forth to ship if needed. Forth Port was Costa Maya, Mexico. We booked the Mayan Ruin Chacchoben Tour. It was great. It was a hour bus ride each way, but the bus was air conditioned and our guide keep us entertained. The tour requires alot of walking and some climbing. And it was warm in the sun. The tour provided cold water. It felt nice in the shade and there was plenty of shade if needed. Our guide (Evan Roberto) was with us from the time we boarded the bus until the time we got back to the port. He was very knowledgeable and did a great job. The ruins have a shop that sells food, water, and souvenirs at a very reasonable price. Overall, we had a great time on our Norwegian Breakaway Cruise. Made alot of memories, looking forward to our next cruise.

Nice ship but entirely overcrowded! Hard to get wait service at most bars. Food was average at best. Norwegian sacrifices guest experience for profits. Smoking is allowed in the casino and the smell permeates other areas of the ship. There was also a pervasive sewer gas smell on the ship? Due to too many guests I presume? We’ve cruised on other lines, first time on Norwegian, not the best.

Maybe seasoned cruisers have a better basis of comparison to other ships/cruise lines, but we were pleasantly surprised by what we thought was near perfect execution from loading thru to unloading. Entertainment, restaurants, and excursions were excellent, with never any unreasonable wait times. Our only complaint, and I suspect not unusual, was that NCL did nothing to enforce their own policy prohibiting guests from reserving all day use of outdoor recliners by placing towels on them early in the morning. Obviously 4000 people cant all utilize at the same time, but NCL should make some effort manage the inconsiderate people. Many passengers we talked to or overheard conversations had the same complaint. Would have been 5-star review if not for this.

Just finished a seven night trip on the Breakaway from N Orleans to Cozumel, Roatán, Belize and Costa Maya. The ship was completely booked. We had some rainy weather off and on. Things I liked… -Burn the Floor dancers are great -the band at Syd Norman’s is awesome especially their performance of the Fleetwood Mac Rumors album -dance club event at the Spice H2O bar are fun - balcony rooms are decent sized -the buffet food is decent, especially the fruit -the staff are nice (waiters, janitors, bar tenders) -the Tabyana beach at Roatan is nice -Harvest Caye has a nice beach and pool -the fitness center is decent sized and the nutrition/wellness staff/info are/is educational but watch out for the expensive detox programs -watching the Super Bowl on board Things I didn’t like… -the pool is vastly undersized for the amount of people on board. Too much ship space wasted on the water slide. -the internet arrangements are expensive, inconsistent and confusing -due to the route, the time zone changes 4 times -the stops at port are too short -the beach at the Exclusive Cozumel Beach Day excursion is poor. You can’t get in the water because of rocks and muddy water -the specialty dining is too expensive -having to pay gratuity on the Ultimate beverage package even when no alcohol drinks are consumed -the River Tubing at 7 Color Lagoon Costa Maya excursion is Ok but the ride there and back is too long and bumpy -the ship was crowded and 3 of our group later tested positive for COVID (could have been the airplane/port)

I rarely ever leave a review but figured I would leave one in an attempt to save some other poor family from being ripped off like we were. We just got back from 7 day cruise this morning and we could not wait to get off that ship. The food was only so-so, and only a few waiters were friendly. My complaint... on the very first day, we bought both of our kids (14, 16) the Unlimited Gaming Package which was $175 a piece. The lady explained that the kids could play any game they wanted all week long. We signed what we thought was the consent form since both are underage. Well on day three guest services gave us a "courtesy" call to let us know that our kids have exceeded $400 dollars in gaming charges. Thinking this was an error because we had purchased the Unlimited Gaming Package for them, we went to speak with guest services. After being sent to 4 different people, we finally have to end up talking to the Casino Manager, who is an absolute rude POS. He told us that each game has a color, either Green or Yellow, and the Yellow games are not included with the Unlimited Package. We kindly explained that we were never told this information or even realized the different colors on any of the games. He asked if we signed the consent form and we told him we did, he said we should have read the fine print. I explained that there were 100 people in line and no one had time to read this. His answer was that he was sorry their employee didnt tell us this when we bought the packages but there is nothing he can do for us and he requested we return to guest services to pay the extra $450-ish dollars that our kids spent. We ultimately had to pay the money and our kids didnt play anymore games because they were scared they were going to cost us more money again. While we were back down at guest services paying, two other parents were complaining about the exact same thing, they were not told the kids couldnt play certain games either! It was an absolute scam by NCL!! I went back to the arcade to count the different games of each color, 7 Green and 19 Yellow games. Meaning the kids were only suppose to play the 7 Green games. We will never go back on another NCL cruise as long as I live.
