We travelled 13 June for 7 nights and stayed on Deck 8 outside cabin . Travelled from Dubrovnik with Ports Crete / Athens / Katakolon / Corfu / Kotor . All stops interesting and easy access from ship to port some could be walked or local transport or buses put on as transfer for few pounds ( we did the hop on hop off in Athens and was excellent with staff from bus at the bus stops in Athens to assist - was a stop at the Acropolis and Plaka ) Overall we had an excellent cruise and would recommend if you like a smaller ship feel with mainly British guests . We have been on all Marella ships and this is our favorite because of its excellent layout - of pool deck ( love the quiet zone at the back of the ship with padded loungers and egg chairs ) and how coffee port / aperitif / flutes / golf bar are placed . We especially like Indigo and its fantastic views ! The entertainment can be a bit loud during the day on main pool deck but there is quiet time and areas . The theatre shows were excellent and pleased was varied this time with musicals n outside entertainment in a comedian and the brilliant Jon Fisher as Gary Barlow tribute act . There was no movies under stars or sailaway ? But did show Euros football for England and Scotland matches on big screen . The choice of food and drink was excellent and of a very high standard definitely try the Gin and Tea / smoker cocktails in Indigo . All staff are friendly and just want you to be happy ! For those complaining yes its an older ship - it’s not a ship that can be compared to new RCCL bigger ships or Princess as it’s a different category - so to avoid dissatisfaction do your research before you book to ensure you get a ship that meets your requirements .

Just came back from amazing Greek mystique cruise June 13-20 Firstly for any one about to go on a cruise on the explorer 2 please discard some of the ridiculous negative reviews and rest assured you will love this ship Yes it is not brand new and showing it's ages in some parts but surely this is reflected in the price as any body like my self who has cruised knows how much a cruise costs and with a drinks package included it would be a lot more expensive The ship is still on the whole glamorous and spotless clean And even the negative people agree that the staff are amazing always giving top service with a smile We ate in vista and latitude breakfast and evening meal and found it a lovely experience with the food to a very high and delicious standard ( although desserts and cakes were not the best which is one of the few negatives ) and served by the usual high standard waitering staff The market place buffet which we only used one morning we had very early start for the Athens trip had different themes every night and between lunch and dinner afternoon tea was available. The shows were definitely west end standard . One of the bands who performed at different venues on the ship called 'the beats' were so good and covered every genre of music so well Only negative regarding entertainment was a pianist singer called Phoebe who murdered every song with the most strange vocals ever but did give us a laugh . There are so many venues all over the ship to sit and enjoy a nice drink and service was very quick. We stayed in an outside cabin on deck 4 which was spotless clean comfortable and looked after so well by our cabin steward Alex Yes there is some vibration but we just didn't mind it and it actually sent us to sleep every night!! The Pool sunbeds were very busy on all decks but that is the same on any ship We thoroughly enjoyed this cruise on this ship with so much character than the new all singing dancing does every thing new ships !! If your lucky enough to be going on her soon ENJOY!!

Arrived back on 6 June after a week on Sail 3 Seas itinery in balcony cabin 9140. This room is spotless and perfect other than dirty balcony glass on outside ( vomit from above I think) and quite rusty balcony furniture but understand they're out in the weather all the time. The staff and entertainment were fantastic and latitude and vista was great. All bars and public areas were lovely. This itinery is fantastic. We absolutely loved our cruise, first one since 2007 on Thomson Spirit. Loads better and bigger ship. Thanks everyone.

Do you like a cabin with such noise and vibration it wakes you every morning at 4:30am until dock around 7 am? Do you like bland 'school dinners' style food unless you upgrade? Do you like obese, sun burnt, fish 'n' chips eating people covering the entire deck around the tiny pool? Do you like a 'butlin's on a boat' experience ; that quintessential forgotten British holiday? If you answered 'Yes' to the majority of those questions - then scroll back up; and imagine that 1 star is 5 stars because this is perfect for you! The best thing about this 'ship' is getting off it at the various ports. The solution to all these problems is easy. Stand on the shoreline and watch the Marella Explorer 2 sink taking obesity and an outdated vessel to the bottom of the ocean.

I travelled with my sister on Explorer 2 from our start of the holiday to the last it was ace.A gentleman at the airport lifted our bags onto the bag drop from then on it just got better everyone was so friendly.8116 was our cabin number and Ruddesh from Goa our cabin steward was excellent kept us on the right track when leaving our cabin & always walking in the wrong direction. Govinda waiter in the Squid & Anchor was faultless always willing to go that little bit extra. Kaiitia from the photo shop took excellent photos of me & my sister making us feel relaxed& beautiful lovely memories The Captain was often seen walking & chatting to guests. One cruise I will remember with the fondest on memories thankyou to everyone on board.xx
