We've done 9 cruises...all on Royal. We had two interior rooms on a cruise out of Cape Liberty (NYC) to Bermuda/Saint Martin/San Juan/Puerto Plata over 9 nights in late May 2024. The rooms were comfortable enough and clean. Staff was excellent as always. But, the ship was very crowded (hard to find a place to sit at breakfast, pool decks were crowded), the time at the ports of call were short...generally left between 2-3pm on port days...ship cruised slower than normal (18 knots), food in the main dining room was mediocre and the breakfast offerings became monotonous (though the service was great as usual), ice skating show was fantastic...headliners shows mediocre and one pretty awful comedian that probably belonged in a lounge, not on center stage. The show "Saturday Night Fever" was energetic and good quality. After sailing over 80 nights on Royal over the years, this is one we won't repeat.

Be careful of the drink package scam!!! You sign up for it, but they claim you didn’t. Now you have to pay full price for drinks. It happened to me and my wife, my Sister and to another person. Mauricio at customer service was rude and no help at all My entire family refuse to take RC again. Halifax is boring anyway. Peggy’s Cove is pretty, but an hour from the ship. A taxi is much cheaper than RC’s excursion The food was good, and our waiter John was great.

Liberty of the Seas - Royal Carribean EMBARKATION - Took a 5-day cruise to Bermuda last week. Getting on the ship was an excellent process. From dropping off the luggage to parking the car to being shuttled back to the ship and then going through the ID process was efficient and smooth. The whole thing took about 30 minutes. CABIN - My wife and I were in a Grand Suite on the 10th floor mid-ship. The cabin was the perfect size for the two of us. We were given a fruit basket upon arrival and on day 3 we were gifted a bottle of wine from the casino. Everything worked perfectly. The Air Conditioning was the perfect temperature for us. Water pressure in the bathroom was great, sleeping comfort was also very good and there was plenty of closet space and drawers for our clothes. The suites are made up twice a day, which is a nice touch. BALCONY - The balcony was the average size for a white on the ship. Two loungers, two chairs and a round table were there. All were comfortable and were used on occasion by both of us. STEWARD - Our steward was Reynaldo or Rey (as he introduced himself) and he was excellent at doing his job. He remembered our names and was always around to open the door for us and ask if there was anything that we needed. We asked for a bucket of ice and he made sure it was there and filled at all times. He also gave us good information and directions when we were about to go here or there and leaving the ship. He was excellent at making us feel at home. FOOD - The food throughout the ship was only average. In the Main Dining Room on the 3rd floor, we chose to skip dinner on Day 2 because we just didn’t find anything on the menu that we wanted to order. We ate dinner there on the other four nights but the food was just average. I had chicken (which didn’t look like chicken), lasagna, pasta bolognese and tiger shrimp, coconut shrimp and caesar salad. Each was edible but not great. The service, however, was extraordinary. Natarjan and Bellinda were friendly, courteous, funny and great at their jobs. It’s certainly wasn’t their fault that the food wasn’t great. They even brought my wife another dinner one night. The desserts were good (ice cream, apple crumb, brownie, etc). The conversations and the service, in general, were fantastic. We had pizza from Sorrento’s on the night we skipped the dining room. The ship has free pizza on the 5th floor and it was actually pretty good the two times we ate there. The ship also has free coffee, cookies and cakes on the 5th floor and I believe that’s open 24 hours, but I could be mistaken on that. We ate breakfast once in the main dining room and two times in Chop’s, which is open every morning for suite members. We ate breakfast once in the Windjammer buffet and lunch twice in the buffet. The food was plentiful, but once again the quality was just average. In fact, the scrambled eggs were inedible (watery with no taste). We were allowed to go to the Suite Lounge for oer duerves each day at 5:00. This is usually my favorite part of the ship’s menu, but this was just average also. The lounge has four hot choices and about a dozen cold choices. I loved the melon balls with prosciutto, the chocolate covered strawberries, the veggies with ranch dressing and the mini fish cakes. Everything else, nah. The free drinks in the lounge is always a big hit. SHIP - Liberty is one of the middle size ships in the fleet. They had two or three lounges on the ship which had a band or a piano player or a guitar player, all with singing. Sometimes there would be a trivia game or name that tune game in these lounges. ENTERTAINMENT - There was an ice skating show on the 3rd floor four times during the week and the show was just ok. In the theatre, they had a comedian (two shows - didn’t attend), a magician (one show - didn’t attend), a broadway type musical - Saturday Night Fever (one show - pretty bad) and a singers and dancers show which was actually pretty good. There was a White party at the pool one night and that was very bad…they had a band instead of a DJ and the band stopped the music for 30 - 45 seconds in between songs so they would lose whoever was dancing. Only one or two staff members were there when usually you have a bunch of them getting everyone to join in on the party, Plus, it was at 9:00 PM when it was hardly dark and some people were still just finishing dinner. There was a Latin Party on the entire 5th floor at about 10:30 one night and that party was pretty good. The cruise director (Mae) was leading everybody in dancing with a DJ above the crowd. The cruise director was entertaining, leading different events during the week (excercise at the pool, married game, several other things). EXCURSIONS - The ship stopped in Bermuda for two days (one night) so we did an excursion to the Crystal Caves for 3 1/2 hours. It was not worth the money, but it was a good tour. The tour guide was very informative while driving us around in a large van (small bus). The caves were beautiful. The negative about the tour was that they didn’t take you back to the ship. This was never brought up until I asked the driver. He dumped us off in Hamilton and told us to take a ferry or a bus back to the ship. Each was a small cost but while waiting for the ferry (1 1/2 hours) we ate lunch which cost us 70 dollars. We had already paid for our meals on the ship. Not cool. The next day, we took a 10 minute walk to Snorkel Beach. It was a nice day at a small beach but it was worth the 100.00 for the two of us. We had two loungers and an umbrella. Very quiet water, no waves. CASINO - We were very disappointed with the casino on this ship, and it has nothing to do with winning or losing. The casino was wayyy too small for the amount of people that were gambling. Slot machines were too close to each other and nobody could get by to walk from one end to the other. The Texas hold-em poker table, which started up at about 9:00 each night had terrible, terrible dealers. We had to correct the dealers every night, no matter who was dealing. They all need a serious amount of training to deal that game. In addition, they decided to cut the casino in half with smoking and non-smoking…but it was very difficult to realize where the smoking section started and ended. DISEMBARKATION - Getting off the ship was very easy. We always take our own luggage off the ship. We met the concierge on the 4th floor and she took a bunch of us the back way and through some lines and we got off the ship very quickly from there. We, once again, had a shuttle take us to our car and we were on the road quickly.

Overall we had an awesome time but I cant give 5 stars as I did notice a lot of changes in service quality in comparison to my Royal cruise last year --- especially as it relates to my cabin. They do not clean your cabin as often as they use to, they do not introduce themselves really, nor do they really do the towel animals (we had 2 all cruise). Additionally, I had to call housekeeping to really get anything we needed. I also noticed many of the staff joking about lack of budgets during certain events which made me think Royal was having financial trouble...but no, in reality they are doing well. It just seems like they have made a lot of cuts on creatin things that, as a regular cruiser, you notice.

I had a wonderful nice for my 60th birthday, with family and friends it was a group of 34. my room was at the front of the ship 7506, love the view. The food and entertainment was good. I went from Jan 8th thru 12th. I been on Royal Caribbean before that was the first time I was sea sick. The ship took off so fast, the water was rocky. But over all I had a wonderful time. I planned other trip November 2024 and January 2025.
