Since there is no place I can see for a corporate review I will put this warning here. "We have travelled on Holland America many times and are 4 star mariners. Recently we were sent offers (casino deals) and we chose 3 cruises. The deal from Holland America was that we had to pay in full, which we did. A few weeks after we paid for these we were told by our Holland America travel person that Holland America had reneged on all 3 cruises. The travel person said that she had never heard of this before and she would go back to Holland America and she expected that the 3 cruises would be reinstated as per the original offer. They were not Holland America came back with an offer that we could pay full price if we wanted to take these cruises. So please be forewarned if you are thinking of travelling with Holland America ' YOU CANNOT TRUST THEM' !!! They will screw you, they are not honest and their word means nothing".…

We booked a dream cruise with Holland America to Hawaii. My husband became sick, but medical let him suffer for 3 days because they were handling emergencies. After visiting a hospital and being recommended by a doctor to leave the ship, they wanted to charge us $960 to disembark the ship OR $500 to see medical and be medically disembarked. Yes, now they had time to see him... They required us to leave via ambulance and visit another hospital (more money). They separated us from our friends and placed us in the other side of the ship. We only saw or heard the cruise director once in 7 days. We have cruised 7 times prior, but never with Holland America. We will NEVER cruise Holland America again!…

In the golden days of Matson’s luxury liners and, more recently, during the voyages of premium cruise lines, most of the Hawaiian islands’ piers they used were located in or near the center of each trading port. Visitors could thus easily stroll around the towns, shopping, dining and drinking in the exotic flavors and Aloha experiences of the paradisiacal islands without fuss or needless expense. My recent round-trip out of San Diego aboard the S.S. Humongous – AKA Holland America Line’s Koningsdam – marked a disappointing change to all that. The ship is too big to use the traditional docks and so in three ports HAL has elected to use container-ship yards outside the towns. HAL sells excursions but otherwise offered no shuttle busses to marooned guests such as myself. Taxis were scarce. The pleasures on board are many of course. Mine included tea and juice brought to the cabin every morning; an excellent dinner in Tamarind, HAL’s Asian specialty restaurant; a very professional pedicure in the spa; the company of like-minded travelers during each evening’s LGBT cocktail hour; and the use of the men’s sauna, which is part of the extensive spa operation but for which there is no extra charge. A separate sauna for women is also offered. All in all, this was a pleasant trip but it sadly lacked the wide-screen, Technicolor, board-riding punch that previous trips to the fabled paradise of the Pacific always delivered.…

The entertsinment on hms koningsdam was so bad we sat in coffee rooms every evening! It was just appalling … any entry from britsins got talent would be better!! The shore excursion team appalling! They cancelled 2 of our 3 excursions on the morning .. trips we had booked over a year ago and gave feeble excuses… infact we discovered the reasons you gave were not true!! As we managed to book the same on shore direct and much cheaper.!!! But 5 months later and 60 emails later they have not refunded us for these excursions!!! Thats over $1000 we are still owed!! Infact they have not responded direct to anyone of my e mails! Holland America you are a disgrace!! You take our money as soon as we book, drink or eat anything! But you refund! Avoid holland america!…

Our recent cruise on Holland America’s Konigsdam to the Mexican coast has been disappointing in almost every phase. Here are some of the negatives: - Difficult and cumbersome website to navigate. - Poor customer service experience on the phone and online. - Paid for Wi-fi that is so slow in downloading (speed test showed less than 5 mbps) that is virtually useless. Paid multiple visits while on board for assistance, that were unhelpful. Staff refused to cancel purchase and continued to select and misdirect issue. - TV reception very poor and never worked while in port. - The lone dining room service was inadequate given the 2000-plus guests….long lines, short hours, slow kitchen. - Premium dining reservations were all booked upon boarding. - Excursions were the poorest on any cruise we were on; e.g. we booked a van while in Puerto Vallarta, but the guide kept taking us to places we were not interested in, refused to go to places we requested, and insisted on going to areas to shop for Silver goods and Tequila. - Staff was overworked, 10-12 hours a day, 7 days a week! -Sub-par entertainment! On and on!…
