Yes, this is an older ship- but still delivers a good cruise experience. Sailed twice in the last 3 months and both times were good. I do say the portions in the MDR have gotten smaller, but still pleased with the service. I enjoyed the ropes course and water slides. Guys pizza always tasty. I was overall pleased with the cruise... yes, its not as big, sexy and thrilling as the newer ships....but hey, the price is right!…

Our cruise was my wife’s idea—I was dreading it at first—but it was a lot of fun and surpassed pretty much all of my expectations. Food was fantastic! I (a selective eater) found something every day I felt like. Not to mention unlimited pizza till late night. The ship itself looks good, if a bit dated in parts. Room attendant and all other staff (and fellow cruise goers) very friendly and helpful. My biggest complaints are about our room, which was very small. I would have preferred a newer room too as the carpet had some stains on it, which I definitely didn’t want to see. Also, as a CPAP user, no electrical plugs near the bed was very inconvenient. Overall though my wife, family and I had a fantastic time which is why I’m still giving it a 5!…

I’m not the person who goes into great detail; but I’m going to try to explain myself here. Carnival Sunshine is plain awful. The ship is falling apart, there wasn’t anywhere on the ship that wasn’t old, or broken. We were on the 9th floor in a balcony room. In our room, a part of the plastic ceiling had fallen down, and made a continual “slap slap slap” noise as the ship cruised. The bathrooms are grimy, discolored, and awful. There are, however- plenty of closet spaces, which was nice. The whole ship is aging, and you’ll see rust and grime everywhere. (And dust!) The food was SO disappointing; my husband and I have been on 10 cruises, and the food is always the highlight…. This cruise, out of 5 nights of food in the dining room, I had one good meal, because I paid an additional 23.99 for it. (Steak & lobster). Prime rib was about 1/4” thick, and couldn’t be cut with a steak knife. The roasted chicken breast was tough. The broiled steak, geez… I asked for medium, and it came brown on the outside, and raw in the middle. The veggies were the same thing you get in a bag at the grocery store; corn, peas, and carrots, without a spice anywhere to be seen. It’s like… they stopped caring. Our 2nd day, we were supposed to port in Bimini; but we weren’t able to because of the currents. The 3rd day, we were to port in Nassau, and have an excursion to snorkel with Sea Turtles. Well…. We had a note placed under our door that morning letting us know that the excursion was canceled. So…. All in all, I would place this as a 3 out of 10. Pretty disappointing. HOWEVER- I will say that the entertainment was good, and the Cruise Director (Leon) was absolutely amazing. He is able to command a room full of people with ease. We've been on many of cruises and always enjoyed them all.. This one was the BEST and WORST.. The best.... Our room attendant was spot-on.. Super nice Ukrainian lady named Sunny. Always made sure we were happy and made sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable. I swear this woman never slept, she was always around asking if we needed anything, always had a smile on her face and was happy and upbeat considering the horrific war going on in her home country. I could not say enough good things about Sunny, she was absolutely amazing.. Now the worst... Carnival has no control over unruly rude guest. Someone on a floor above us in a balcony room had a boom box speaker and was using it ALL NIGHT LONG.. The base was so loud, our bed, glasses, dishes everything in the stateroom would vibrate. They were extremely loud and noisy singing and talking over the music, using extreme profanity's. So rude considering there are a lot of children on this boat. MANY of us called guest services that even guest services said that they phones were "blowing up with complaints" and still nothing changed. They would get quiet for about 20 minutes and then back at it... Two nights in a row couldn't sleep.…

I don't understand all the recent negative reviews on here. I sailed in January 2023 and had an amazing time! This was my very first cruise so I was apprehensive but excited. I watched many YouTube videos before my trip so I knew a little about what to expect. The Sunshine is not a very large ship, which I prefer over the larger fancier ships. Everyone working the Charleston port were so nice, friendly and helpful, check-in process went smoothly as did disembarkment. Our cabin was clean, thanks to Ida, our sweet steward. Food wasn't outstanding but that's okay by me. The dining room had excellent food and service. Someone commented that it's a party ship, I traveled with my daughter and 20 year old granddaughter, the ship can be as much a party boat as you want it to be, we chose the quieter aspects of the cruise and had a great time. I've already booked another cruise on the Sunshine for January 2024. I hope the next one will be as perfect as this one was.…
