We took a last minute cruise on Allure of the Seas. I have over 2800 contributions on TripAdvisor and have sailed on nearly every cruise line. We will not sail again on RC. We found the food to be average at best and the lines for customer service to be excessive while on board. We spent most of our time trying to get our room changed for some loud talkers who were next to us at all hours of the day and night on their balcony. It was expensive and customer service had no where to move us to due to full capacity. They offered a discount on a future sailing and made this commitment in a letter that was sent to our room. The letter was thrown away by housekeeping. It took me 3 months to get an answer from RC, them suddenly the 20% off discount that was promised turned into a $300 future sailing credit that expires in a year. We could not have been more disappointed in their customer service both on and off of the ship. Their customer service phone lines consistently had hold times of over an hour. I wrote to executive office and got no response.

This review starts at the port. RCCL has a new terminal in Galveston that is beautiful but has to be run by blind people. It apparently opened in November and it was the worst experience we have ever witnessed in a port. There apparently is no communication between security, the private parking vendors, and RCCL. I found the disorganization to be rampant. We pulled in to be dropped off and were told to go to spot 6. We went to spot 6. Well then the person in charge of security, that looked like he may have been in jail the night before, told us we could not drop there and pointed toward another parking spot 6. We then maneuvered to another parking lot 6, mind you in sight of the first parking spot 6, and was met by a rude guy who owned the spots (EZ CRUISE PARKING) he said and cussed and told us to move immediately or we would be fined. By now our Genie had arrived but there was nothing he could do on the ground. I looked around and I could plainly see that there were three sets of parking spots, all numbered the same, in the same area. Somebody is a moron. We did unload, regardless of the homeless parking guy who said he owned the spots (EZ CRUISE PARKING) and finally got into the terminal. We had 10 CUSTOMERS of RCCL with the average age of 75 they kept pushing around all over the place. Once inside, it was better. The bottom line is that perhaps RCCL would say those people are not theirs, only contractors and apparently low bid. It says Royal Caribbean on the building, we paid Royal Caribbean, and this is where they sent us. It is a true reflection of Royal Caribbean and if they are not ashamed or embarrassed then they have definitely got issues. Like mamma said, it is hard to make a second first impression. Now to the ship. Way too big. Too many people. When it is embarkation day or disembarkation day with 5500 people if you don't have a Genie, then you are going to be really upset. On sea days, the ship is so packed its hard to find space unless you are in the room. If an emergency occurred, it would be a disaster. It appears since covid they have managed to shift more cost to the customer, raise prices, and say no more than yes. I do not believe the quality of the food in the areas that are "included" were of the quality they were in the past. The employees, well they are the same great people who try and I am sure are threatened everyday. I did see more than once supervisors publicly reprimanding the employees instead of pulling them aside. Classy bunch aren't they? The infirmary....They never said I had the Nirovirus but they certainly didn't charge me for the infirmary visit and several other things. I found the infirmary to be dirty, with blood spots on the floor and stains on the cabinets. It was not clean. In the beginning, there was a guy posing as a nurse who told the doctor to go to bed, he could handle it. After an hour, a couple of injections, I assume the doctor appeared. She ordered a bag of fluid, that the so called nurse attempted to start, four days later I can't move my arm. Worst IV I have ever had started in my life. Then they gave me some drug that produced about 20 hours of sleep and hallucinations. It did stop the horrible stomach pains but it wasn't easy to get there. I was quarantined to my room for 24 hours with no diagnosis,(wink, wink) but they told me I could basically have anything I wanted on the ship to eat and watch any pay movie I wanted. If you have ever had the virus neither is very helpful and rest assured I wasn't leaving the room. Bottom line. Don't be loyal to this group. It gets you nowhere. Instead of jumping on a special, run the numbers with a cruise line that has good customer service, doesn't nickel and dime you at every turn, and perhaps appreciates your business. I believe you will find when it is all added up, it costs about the same. I am done with RCCL and I am sure they could care less.

Where do we even begin? Rooms are ok, balconies are average sized with basic furniture The beds are hard, incredibly hard, I wake up at 4:00ish am with an aching body every morning Pillows are Walmart quality I’m bitter about the cruise because it was $2700 US for 2 people for one week - No airfare You pay for EVERYTHING! Wifi - you pay Soda coffee sparkling water You pay Drinks are outrageous and watered down Tip tax and whatever other charge means a Corona is $10+ a bottle A cocktail that’s weak costs $15.00 Wine at dinner? You pay Orange juice at breakfast? You pay Restaurants outside of the main dining room average $60/p for dinner and $70 for lunch for 2 😂 I could understand if this was a superior cruise line that offered impeccable service But, IT IS NOT! It’s filled to capacity with minimal space for breakfast, and dinner is an ordeal where you either wait an hour for a drink and an appetiser OR you’re rushed out within an hour It’s the worst $5000+ I’ve ever spent on a holiday Customer service agents at the service desk are rude and unprofessional They entered the wrong details for our black card, and were incredibly rude, until it was discovered that it was their error The agent offered a basic “I’m sorry” I thought we were going to be escorted off at the next port- which incidentally we couldn’t stop at because of high waves So, 4 days at sea, on a basic B***h boat where our fees are nearly as much as the cruise, and the overwhelming smell of urine and sewage permeates the halls of this massive boat, we’re begging to go home at this point Save your money and don’t take RCCL For the love of god

Crew and staff all amazing. Disappointed in the lack of activities onboard. Something is very wrong with their desalination plant. Water at chops grill very salty and heard complaints about salty tap water in staterooms. Age of ship and room accessories showing extreme wear. Not impressed. Not the cruise line it was 10 years ago. Can’t blame Covid on this experience

The chairs in smoking area are very deep and do not have arms, I had to ask for help to get up. dining room service was poor, no substutues on the menu. Entertainment was the worst I have ever seen. Embarkment took almost 1 hour, however disembarkment was very good.
