- smolchajiMarshfield, MA262 contributionsIf you’re lucky enough to get a parking spot, this is a wonderful place to spend some time. Bring a blanket or a chair to set up on the side, then wade through or swim in the various natural pools.Written 6 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ChrisHFrederick, MD525 contributionsTwo adults visited here in the early afternoon on a Wednesday in late August 2023. Clearly a popular place with limited parking, we were lucky to get a space. The signage says it is 0.3 miles to the falls but it seems much longer due to the constant up and down of the stone stairs. Nothing very strenuous but be prepared. Also, due to some mud and standing water, recommend closed toed shoes. The entire walk is along the Ellis River and is absolutely beautiful with several smaller falls visible before reaching Ellis Falls, which are 64 feet tall and spectacular. The whole jaunt took us about 90 minutes but we were really taking our time and lots of pictures. It can be done in a shorter time. A don’t miss sight if you’re in the area. Note that it is in the White Mountains National Forest and is part of the $5/per day parking fee areas. No rest rooms are available.Written 2 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sonia D1 contributionI can't say enough about the wonderful experience at Nestlenook Farms.....From the very beginning to the very end. Everyone was wonderful.. we had our family up from Texas (my husband and I are from Maine) They said it was magical and will never forget this adventure.....I knew it would be awesome but it went beyond our expectations. I have so many more family members to bring back this winter. Thank you Nestlenook Farms for everything. You bring back the beautiful peaceful days of Currier and Ives or Normand Rockwell. So picturesque. Hearing the bells on our horses (Frank and Hank) to the beautiful music in the background along with people having fun enjoying the ice skating.....and don't forget the ride in the lighted woods with the sound of the trickles of the river along the banks. I am handicapped and with every step of the way they helped me on and of the carriage and made sure I was comfortable. Please do not hesitate to take this adventure you will never regret it...... P.S. don't forget to sit by the open fire........Written 28 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The ski trails are not just thrilling but also remarkably scenic, offering a perfect blend of excitement and natural beauty.
Discovering that Wildcat is nestled in the White Mountains National Forest was an unexpected delight – the surroundings add an extra layer of magic to the entire experience. This gem has swiftly become one of our favorite ski destinations, thanks to the unbeatable combination of thrilling trails and awe-inspiring scenery.
For anyone seeking a ski getaway that transcends the ordinary, Wildcat Mountain is the place to be. We can't wait to return to this haven of winter bliss – a true paradise for skiing enthusiasts!Written 1 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We’ve discovered several artists here whose art now brightens a few walls in our home! We wish it hadn’t taken ten years of driving by to drop in one day!Written 28 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - varneykrHancock, NH527 contributionsState of New Hampshire Bridge No. 51.
The Jackson Bridge was built by Charles Broughton and his son, Frank. The original cost of the bridge has been lost to history. It has sometimes been reported that the bridge was constructed as part of the Maine Central Railroad, but this claim is false. Descendants of Charles Broughton unilaterally state that he and Frank built the bridge. Family records, including journals and hand-drawn plans of the bridges, confirm it is a Broughton bridge.Written 13 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The newly commissioned painting is breathtaking. Warren is amazing and Jackson is lucky to have such a gentleman leading this organization. - Julia A1 contributionI went with three of my friends and we had an amazing time! We knew we were going to enjoy our time when we met Nancy when purchasing our tickets. She was super helpful and very friendly. Although there weren’t many trails open, it was a very relaxed day and we were able to have an amazing time. I’m surprised there weren’t more people on the mountain because we went on a saturday.Written 21 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jen WilliamsBoston, MA7 contributionsThis photography studio is in the Snowflake Inn and it is amazing. Honestly, if you are just hanging around Jackson you should stop in. It's free to look and the photo's are impressive. Dana is a really nice guy and his art is a great value. I didn't buy anything when I was there but now I wish I had. You will never get better framed pictures of the White Mountains at better prices.Written 3 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tinaNtravelSan Jose, CA2,011 contributionsThis is a marsh pond across the highway from a Visitor Center rather close to the drive up to Mount Washington. We just walked a short distance after the boardwalk and it seemed to be a fairly easy hike. As we were looking out at the pond, we suddenly saw a beaver which was a nice surprise. We waited for quite some time, but it never visibly surfaced again. (Probably went into the marsh.)Written 21 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Larry mMinesing, Canada283 contributionsWe were staying at the Wentworth Inn and had booked a tee-time through them. It had rained a little in the morning which kept everyone away. So my friend and I had the whole course to ourselves. The course is not very long, 5435 yards from the tips. The course was very enjoyable to play and I played long irons off the tee on the short par 4's. On the back nine, there are 3 holes which I would rate as their best. A long uphill par 3 at 185 yards, a very tight par 5 and the another par 3 which is all downhill. They have a nice clubhouse and a restaurant. Will definitely play on my next visit.Written 29 December 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kathryn978Boston, MA68 contributionsWe first golfed at this small, par-3, 9-hole golf course during peak foliage season in Jackson, NH. The scenery was stunning. The course itself is compact with the tees for some holes almost alarming close to the pins for others. On the 4th hole there is a hill that obstructs the tee from the green. There's a large bell in a tree for players to ring when they clear the green. Staff and patrons were exceptionally nice. Lunch in the dining room of the nearby resort buildings was very good. The resort is an impressive wooden structure. A gorgeous, stone-filled river runs merely feet from Carter Notch Road on the short drive up from Jackson. All in all a pleasant place for a low-key golf game. It beats the crowds in North Conway!Written 14 October 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
