I've done a few distillery tours over the years.
This one is different and I mean in a good way.
The passion from the guide, the knowledge and the island community make this an excellent tour.
No restrictions on pictures, which is unheard-of.
They do both Whisky and Gin tours, but the onus is on whisky.
You also see the bottling process which again is rare.
This distillery is new, but it is part of the community and has been developed with that in mind.
    Strongly recommend a visit.

    Stunning sands !

You can drive down to park near the dunes and enjoy a walk across the sands depending on tides. Very clean sands.

Lews Castle is not only a 19th Century castle you can visit, but it also is used for luxury holiday accommodation and the downstairs rooms are used for special events and weddings.

There was a special exhibition on loan from the Museum of London of late Bronze Age gold jewellery. A few of the most impressive artefacts were found in Shropshire. We particularly liked the 3 geometric sun necklaces which were surprisingly shiny, especially given the length of time they’d been buried.

They also had on display some of the famous Lewis or Uig Chessmen, named after the island or the bay where they were found in 1831. They are a group of distinctive 12th-century chess pieces, along with other game pieces, most of which are carved from walrus ivory. They may be some of the few complete, surviving medieval chess sets.

The Storehouse Cafe was a great place for lunch. They have both hot and cold food and a good variety of drinks. The service was exceptional.

The free open carpark is a short walk away and there are very clean toilets.

Super cool spot to check out. If you're going, make sure to first stop by the free little museum by the parking lot. There is a ton of information in there that makes looking at the broch much more worthwhile. Also, behind the information boards, there's a little "interpretation" that is super cute and really helps you picture what life was like inside!

Stunning drive. Different view round every corner and if the light changes do does the view. Moonscape is one way of describing it.

Although our tour stopped here, we might not have picked it to see on our own. It was interesting though getting a glimpse into the life of people before. It is a nice little stop. Be forewarned if you have asthma though - the peat fire stays on in the blackhouse and it is VERY smoky inside, so if you have lung issues, you may want to skip or make your visit brief and stay in the fresh air outside the house.

Coast and beach are so beautiful! And quiet with very few people around! Long access road but with passing places.

These site was really great. It gave a real insight to life in the black houses over the decades. Volunteer workers were really interesting
