Did a spectacular tour with Island Life Taiwan throughout Taroko Gorge. It is breathtaking! We never would have seen half of what we saw doing it ourselves, as there are traffic/construction stops that need to be timed perfectly. We enjoyed fantastic authentic food, and the sites in the Gorge are so amazing that pictures don’t do it justice. A perfect day!

An impressive winding gorge with many worthwhile sightseeing stops. You can visit the gorge on a day tour (for example from Taipei). However, it is much nicer to combine the tour with an overnight stay at Silks Place at the end of the gorge. There is a bus that stops at all the tourist hotspots (hop on hop off), but you lose a lot of time. We traveled with our own rental car and found this to be the best option. The only disadvantage is that it was sometimes difficult to find a parking space at the sights. Alternatively, I would recommend a private tour with a driver, then you don't have to look for a parking space. The front part of the gorge (at the entrance to the gorge) is rather boring, the interesting sights are at the back. If you are only here on a day trip, you should drive to the end of the gorge first and start your sightseeing tour from there. You will need more time than you think to see the entire gorge. The Taroko Gorge was one of the highlights of our trip to Taiwan.

Nice and scenic place, some food stalls were also available near by. Nice for a good stroll and pebble block building...

Great views of the cliff but can only see it from a distance. You are restricted to the road with no path going down the cliffs. However, the views justify a stop. Parking is limited and you may have to wait for a spot. As most people are not staying for long, you have a fair chance to park with some patience.

The Eternal Spring Shrine is an attractive stopping point on Taroko Gorge tours. This is a temple built to honour those who died during the dangerous construction of the road along the gorge. It is accessed by another path cut into the side of the cliffs on the opposite side from a car park. It is built directly over a stream which cascades down into the gorge. The smell of incense pervades. Although it is well worth the short walk along the cliff path, actually the most dramatic view is viewing it from across the gorge.

I spent a day at Taroko Gorge and everything here was amazing. Swallow Grotto was definitely a highlight. The landscape is so dramatic and beautiful. Pick up your hard hats and watch out for falling rock. The views anywhere along this area are spectacular. There was even a cafe that served great coffee and snacks. Highly recommended

Although it was showering during this time, the walk was worthy of the scenic pleasure. Keep going til the end it at least up till first stall and slight pass it experience the stream cooling water. Be careful of slip though.

Quite a big market but there were many stalls that had games and the food as well kind of repeated through many stalls. Overall, it was a nice experience.

This trail adds excitement, enjoyment, and appreciation to your hiking. Thanks to those who sacrificed and dedicated themselves to shaping this trail and making it one of the most enjoyable walks around Taroko area. The must-visit trail for hiking lovers.

We enjoyed boating at this beautiful lake. Lake is in a valley surrounded by mountains and forest areas and is good place to relax for few hours and capture some nice pics of nature and birds.

Overall good place for leisure with your family and kids

Also near by are good restaurants to enjoy some local food.

The Su-Hua Highway is one of the world's most spectacular roadways. The highway is officially the Su-ao - Hualien Highway. Work on the highway began in the Japanese colonial era (1895-1945) but was not completed until 1990. The Su-Hua Highway is one of Asia's great journeys. I have done the trip several times, the views are fantastic; be sure to get o competent driver.

I think this a very neat tourism spot, however, this place is dangerous when it is windy, so be careful on windy days, and also bring sun protection as there is no shade.
