- GlobetrottingSwedeParis, France3,274 contributionsThis excursion is well worth the visit, to see the three parts of the Grey glacier. Just be aware that you have to check in at the hotel one hour before your scheduled departure. This is to allow you to drive to another parking lot and then hike across a very windy sand spit to the boat.Written 30 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cindy WNew York City, NY783 contributionsInteresting site with an informational trail about the life of a mylodon leading you to a big cave. The entrance fee is a bit steep..so OK skipping if you are tired, short on time, or have seen caves before.Written 11 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kay BAscot75 contributionsYou get here by boat from Puerto Natales and it is well worth the trip - you can get off and walk to pretty close to the face of the glacier and it is so beautiful - quite stunning - loved it.Written 16 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CypressTX_TravelerCypress_Texas70 contributionsGreat way to spend an hour or two. 30% dedicated to the indigenous inhabitants and 70% devoted to the recent settlers from Europe. The most interesting part was seeing how similar the indigenous people are to Native Americans and First Alaskans and those long gone who crossed the Bering Strait. It’s fascinating to notice how tool making advances thousands of years ago are similar all over the world. Note the stirrups used nowadays are simply an improved version of one from many years past.Written 21 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nick N1 contributionMy wife, friend, and I hit up Last Hope distillery as our night cap for the final day of our trip through Chilean Patagonia. After a long 5 day backpacking trip we were beyond surprised to find such a well established, although relatively young bar.
The bar was packed but they had outdoor seating with blankets and cushions to keep patrons warm.
The Australian owner was a pleasant surprise for us English speakers and greeted our table with a tasting of both of their gins.
The traditional dry-London gin was a strong and delicious sharp gin with local Chilean botanicals, making it unique from any of your popular northwestern dry gins. The Calafate gin was a huge, welcome change of pace that was a deep purple from the Calafate berry they steep the gin with. For those that aren't as into the dry gins this alternative was perfect. The Calafate gimlet compliments the tart berry with the sour citrus flavors, making an amazing combination that you can enjoy all night.
The service was stellar, always with full water glasses, something I personally appreciate at a bar. The atmosphere pulled us completely out of the rural Patagonia mountains into a city speakeasy cushioned booth. For those that needed some eats, they served some great shareable plates from bread pudding with local vanilla Gelato to roasted nuts.
10/10 wish we could've stayed longer and tried every drink and their whiskey that's still in the first barrel.Written 13 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Probably not recommended in the rain as slopes could be slippery.Written 26 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Thomas MimsAlbuquerque, NM2 contributionsThey carry very high quality artisan works. Not the usual tourist stuff. - Jocelyn SMagliano Sabina, Italy431 contributionsGiving an insight into the history of the original settlers from Europe and Chiloe. Also displays of archeological findings. All very well captioned snd displayed, much information in English, easy to walk around and uncrowded. Recommend.Written 20 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- QuinnyGGLondon, UK69 contributionsSaw this from terminus of a catamaran ride from Puerto Natales. Half hour hike to glacier. Beautiful glacier with icebergs breaking off into the fjord. Not as big as others in the region, but nonetheless stunning. Boat ride recommended, with stops at waterfalls, sea lion and cormorant colonies, and warming whisky/ soft drink on return trip. The rest of the park was not seen on this boat trip, but can be done with a local guide.Written 8 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JDBScottsdale, AZ5,232 contributionsWhat you see is what you get. It is a nice piece on the waterfront. It will also take you 30 seconds to see this location, then time to move onto the next.Written 18 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Susan CLondon, UK337 contributionsGaze in awe. Listen to the breeze and the creaking. Admire the different shades of blue. Take in the size, composition and weight of the ice. Watch out for growlers breaking free from the mass!Written 27 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
