The square is lovely and nice. Today there was a carnival going on there. So the stage has been set up. We went on a Ferris Wheel to watch the city.

This is a superb small museum with some outstanding works by Chagall. His vivid paintings come to life in the museum, which should be a top site to visit if you are in Nice. We took a taxi there from our hotel as it is somewhat off the beaten track. We waited and waited at the taxi stand after our visit, but no one showed up, so we finally called an Uber, which came right away. I note this because it is a fairly long walk to trams and trains.

One of the most delightful features of our walk around the center of town, this is a big flower market offering some of the best of the Cote D'Azur products. We were not staying long so a purchase was not wise, but we loved to look. The prices are very reasonable.

This is the biggest church in town and has a Russian design. It can be found in the 19th/20th Century part of town with some open space around it. Quite ornate, decorative inside, and worth a quick visit. If you are a believer, attend a service here for a special experience.

We bought the four day museum pass for 15 Euro and visited Musee Matisse, MAMAC and on our last day also Musee Massena. This museum this summer - on the top floor - has an interesting special exhibition with works by Emanuel Costa. 100 years ago he was perhaps the most popular painter in the Nice area and among other he painted the ceiling in Opera de Nice.

The fountains are brilliant, in 30 degree heat my boys were straight in and cooled down, so much fun. The fountains came on at 20 past and 10 to the hour and lasted about 15 mins.

I think this can be one of the symbols of the city. A lovely square with beautiful buildings and sculptures. Worth stopping by.

I will be honest and say that, on a rainy day, what first lured us into the museum was the visibly stunning interior and a chance to dry off. The entrance staircase and top floor rooms are indeed amazing. At first my attention was preoccupied by the building and not the musical instruments it houses.

Gradually, however, I noticed these more and more. What a fascinating collection of 16th to 19th century instruments it houses, some familiar some I had never seen or heard of before. Glad we dropped by.
