- KeizoKawasaki, Japan1,575 contributionsI recommend to book Donguri to Yamaneko bus service to take you many spots in the area in classic style little bus costing about USD52 for whole day tour(half day also available)
In the morning Miyazawakenji Memorial, Takamura Kotaro
memorial and Dowamura,
In the afternoon Ihatopu, Nitobe Inazo memorial, Ohasama winery and Hayamine & Kenji exhibits. they say there are five drivers working but I was lucky to see Mr. Furukawa who was a grand champion reading Kenji poem and also a good singer.Written 23 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are different exhibition rooms about the nature, such as animals, birds and anatomy. If you do not know the fairy tales of Kenji, you don't have to go into that exhibition hall. Then the entry of the village is free.Written 18 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sarah F18 contributionsI recommend going up the path near the parking lot (Kawaranobo- steeper, slightly more challenging, along the water, rocky) and down the other route (Odagoe-flatter, rockier, more open, ladder section, plants) to give you more variety. Although this means you walk back along the road for about 30 minutes, I think it is worth it. Hayachine tends to get cloudy around noon, so you want to have an early start (around 7 at least) for a good view and a parking spot. No toilets on the mountain after the parking lot but they do sell portable toilets... I've never used one so I can't say what they are like.
Hayachine is famous for its endemic species, so keep an eye out for the flowers, especially the edelweiss!Written 24 February 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are platforms along the trail with a bell to ring as there are bears in the area. Worth the short hike, peaceful and enjoyable.Written 8 February 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JuhaUittoBethesda, MD468 contributionsThis is a beautiful garden with more than 6000 roses of 450 varieties. Unfortunately when we visited many of them were already past their peak but we still could enjoy. The setting on a hillside is very nice overlooking the onsen in the valley.
An interesting detail is that the patron of the garden was Kenji Osano who was also implicated in the Lockheed bribery scandal that involved high level political and business leaders, as well as gangsters. Osano's statue is located in a discreet place above the garden.Written 19 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. One of his large oil paintings called “Nude Beauty” is permanently displayed at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, and it has the designation of “Important Cultural Property” for being an example of Japanese avant-garde works.
Since he was born in the town of Towa (now a part of the city of Hanamaki), Iwate Prefecture, the municipality built this memorial museum with his name. It’s a relatively small museum in two floors. When we visited it, it was having a coordinated special exhibit of his works with the Iwate Museum of Art in the city of Morioka; Yorozu Tetsugoro Memorial Museum mainly showing his Japanese ink paintings and the Iwate Museum of Art showing his Western-style oil paintings.
The memorial museum is located on a small hill near the centre of town and it was a little difficult to find it. There is a parking space in front of the museum good for dozen or so cars.Written 19 May 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
