- Ivan ShilovMoscow, Russia19 contributionsThis place is worth two hours of your time. You can see some very old buildings. The bell that rang at the time of the murder of Tsarevich Dmitry. You can also climb the clock tower and see the bells ringing.Written 27 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sandra and Alan SEdinburgh, UK8,006 contributionsLocated at the top of the steps up from the River Cruise Dock, this Museum is well placed for the tourists who arrive here to wait on their bus for a tour of the town.
Unfortunately closed when we were in town, the art visible in the window was of reasonable quality, but probably an acquired taste if you wanted to buy a piece.Written 26 April 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Highly decorative, it had white carved wood trim around and between each window, along the roof line, and one delicately decorated kokoshnik attached to the green (copper?) roof. This decor reminded me of pictures of traditional Russian wood houses called ishas. Its windows could have been lead glass because of the criss-cross pattern on them and their new appearance. The exterior of this house was attractive and looked freshly painted. Perhaps before becoming a library, and now a museum, it had once been a home. I assumed that the multi-generation family portrait pasted under one of the exterior windows had been that family. These people, wearing clothes from another century, indicated that this house was very old. It was difficult to tell if the house had always been in that location or had been moved there to serve as a library and now a museum. It was strange to me that this old house would be an example of urban living. We did not enter, even though the open doors seemed welcoming. From the door we could just see stairs and nobody was nearby. There was no sign with admission fees posted. Large signs in Russian only were placed prominently on its exterior. It should attract visitors as it was placed along the main road, across from the shopping area. For me, it was a picturesque photo stop.Written 19 July 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
