What travellers are saying
- Inspire562145057083 contributionsWe went to the famous Nandi Hills in the early morning of 29th Dec 2023 to see the sunrise. It is a beautiful and popular place for family outing near Bengaluru. However, that day it was very crowded and there was hardly any parking space. We however, had a good time as we had gone as a family together. I recommend that one should avoid weekends and go there on week days, if possible.Written 3 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - arundathi dGeorgia3 contributionsBeautiful! Well maintained. Would definitely recommend going here. Very peaceful and not crowded! The temple surroundings has no street light, That needs to be checked.Written 5 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nibedita CNew Delhi, India304 contributionsWe visited this place in the month of Dec 2024. It is such a serene place, and the statue of Shiva is mesmerizing. The atmosphere is divine. Extremely neat and tidy. The evening light and sound show is a must watch.Written 5 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Padmashree MBengaluru, India77 contributionsGudibande fort is about 100km from Bangalore near Chikballapur. Trekking to the top of the fort is quite easy as there are steps all the way to the top. It takes about 1 hour to reach the top. The view from the top is amazing. There is a small pond at the top which is beautiful. We went on a Saturday evening and expected a crowd but the place was not crowded at all. It was very peaceful.Written 19 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- arundathi dGeorgia3 contributionsTemple needs to be maintained. Too many stones pricking toes. People dry clothes inside temple premises, bikes kept inside temple premises, priest is not there always. They should not use Tubelight to show the idol, oil lamp should be used to show the idol. Proper lighting is not there. 1000year old temple has to be maintained better!Written 5 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - columbus1964Bengaluru, India343 contributionsWe trekked to skandagiri from mahasamsthana math side (three hills away) in hot summer. This will be a supurb trek after rainy season. Please note that it is not a well marked route and without mobile connectivity, so keep a track of your bearing. I will call it a mild trek, but a very long one. Nature is amazing and one need to figure out route based on general direction. Keep a compass or GPS, or you are sure to get lost. Also, there is nothing to eat or drink so carry enough food/water. The only place you can eat is on the way back at templeWritten 1 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SudheerRao07Bengaluru, India22 contributionsAn average place. The temple on top of the hill is the only attraction. Trek is not really a trek, its a walk on the ramp (ascending). Its not challenging (mild and kids can do it). If one is keen to visit the lakshinarasimha and lakshmi temples on top, then its worth going. Else skip the place.
The roads leading to the foothill is bad. One can even drive the call to the top (2km) for temple visit.
the beak like shape rock is cordoned off. One cant go till there, as some reckless visitors have created nuisance there.
Request to those who visit - Please keep it clean and its a holy shrine, respect the surroundings.Written 25 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SRIKAKOLAPU348 contributionsIts built around 500 years ago.Temple is good but maintenance is not there.Car parking is difficult to getWritten 17 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- PrasantaBaruahBengaluru, India4 contributionsThe fort looks deserted as very few people visit this place. The fort looked like well guarded with multiple layers of defensive walls. This concept of multi tier fort walls is seen in almost all the forts in Karnataka. By the view of the ruins at the base of the fort, it looked like the fort was breached (at least the lower half). The front gates are getting renovated and we can see a huge iron gate being put up.
Tip: As you climb up, you will find a deep gorge on the left. In case lucky, you will spot monitor lizard. Please maintain silence as you move towards it as slightest disturbance will make it hide.Written 31 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Though there are timings, we were allowed to enter. There is a nominal fee of 10 Rs per head. The park is worth a visit.
We found many interesting tree species. They are well marked, though some boards are in kannada and we could not read. There is a nice place for kids to play. I would definitely recommend it if you have young kids.
Well maintained, neat and clean. Worth a visit if you are nearby, especially if you have kids or keen on looking at some tree species.
