The tour took so much time . It was a bad management of time and completely unnecessary !
I would advise people to NOT take this tour .

First , when we got the island we were given several times for like . First 11:30 , 12:00 , 12:30 . The food didn’t come until 1:30 . Many of guest weee exhausted waiting for food . The food was sitting until everything was cooked . The food was disgusting and COLD .

I was so disappointed in the service , the laced attitude , and to have everyone waiting just get to cold food was a disaster !

We booked with Mango Tours twice and they were exceptional both times. They were on time to our hotel pick-ups, the day was so well organised (we were not waiting around for anything) and we were able to spend as long as we wanted at each stop. We were not rushed and nothing was too big of an ask. We felt safe and very well looked after.
The itinerary was brilliant, we saw everything we wanted and more!
Thank you Abbas and Rose for being so knowledgeable and patient!
    We would definitely recommend!

The trip was great, walking through the forest. It was very peaceful and relaxing. But initially the company were 45 minutes late with no communication to me. When the tour guide arrived he showed me that he was given a different pickup time than I had. Therefore more communication is needed to make sure arrival is when they say or text or ring if late.
However the tour was good and I saw the colobus monkeys that were not shy! Then I went to mangrove woods which was interesting. After that we went to a spice farm. Started with traditional Swahili lunch which was delicious. A walkabout with another guide explained the spices, plants and uses. Very interesting. Able to ask a lot of questions. A great day despite the late start.

We paid £112.84 in total for this trip for 2. Then had to pay 11,500 TSH per person to get into the slave exhibition. Which wasn’t worth the money as just placards on a wall, all information readily available on the internet. Feel this exhibition should be included in the price already paid.

Our guide Yakoub was knowledgeable. And the boat driver friendly.

The driver picked us up on time, but played loud music going and coming back from stone town, I had to ask him to turn the music down. On the way back we saw red Columbus monkeys on the trees. I asked the driver to stop so we could take a photo, but as I got my camera ready he drove off stating tomorrow he would bring us to the forest- something which we had previously conversed we would of liked to see but made no plans with this company or the driver.

The tortoise are lovely, but on leaving the locals on the island ask for money to support the turtles….when we have paid already to see them in the first instance.

Stone town was steeped in history. But on entering the Portuguese fort, again- locals asking for money to support their fort. In stone town along the promenade we were followed, every time Yakoub stopped to speak to us so too did the men around. Found this a little unsettling.

We had a wonderful evening. Ahmad picked up on time at designated meeting point. We walk thru stone town and market with an explanation of what we were seeing. We passed through walkways and alleys used by locals we would never have otherwise seen. Afterwards we had a drink at the top of Swahili House. Took lots of photos and saw the sunset. Then walked through Stone Town to the Night Food Market at Forodhani gardens and sampled some really good food, finishing with a local coffee.

We had a great time & Mody was a very good guide, I would recommend. We were collected straight from our hotel & did a morning half day trip. We did 3 things: found a beach in the middle of the sea (great for photos), snorkelling over the coral reef looking at the fish, and then looking / swimming with dolphins! We felt very safe & had a great time, Mody also provided lots of fresh fruit & water to drink which was great.

Mohamed was a very knowledgeable guide and knew a lot about the uses of the herbs in medicine. We were shown many rare spices and it was very interesting to see how and where these spices grew. A very hospitable team who gave us coconuts and an assortment of fruit, with an opportunity to buy some spices.
    Would highly recommend this tour.

First of all the management was really flexible and made it possible for us to move the tour a day earlier without paying for anything.
Unfortunately the organization on the tour wasn’t really good. The Guides English was really poor and they were not really friendly. The equipment was really old and didn’t smell good. They threw plastic bottles in the water during the tour and smoked weed at the stop on the small beach (even the captain!). After seeing this I felt very uncomfortable to drive back with them.
I think there would have been no difference to the tours the beach boys offer at nungwi beach and there you would even have saved money.

    Cannot really recommend the tour.

Was picked up from our resort promptly. We arrived at the location and met Babu, the guide and he was awesome. We rode through villages, mud, and even through stone town and nungwi. We also stopped at a couple beaches and we tried some local sweets. During the entire drive Babu stopped multiple times and gave us some history facts about the villages such as the type of homes, taxes, schools, farming techniques, etc. he was extremely knowledgeable and his English and vocabulary was top tier (which you don’t find much in Tanzania because the primary language is Swahili). We needed the day riding through stone town around dusk dark which was fun to see all the lights and action. Our tour actually needed up being about 4.5 hours which we loved!

Overall a beautiful experience. Only callout is be prepared for the buggies. They’re a bit small and kind of uncomfortable but once you get accustomed to driving/riding, you’ll forget about that.
