Very interesting tour, excellent wines, and beautiful views. The staff were so accommodating when we showed up mid-afternoon and hungry. We loved the whole experience!

This walk is not for the faint hearted or for anyone with mobility issues. To reach the top and be rewarded with stunning views of the local area, you undergo a serious workout but happily without an entrance charge. The flora in May was set into a backdrop of gorgeous purple heather and yellow broom. A less demanding return walk is possible if you continue through at little iron gate behind the castle - the slope is kinder on the knees. Back in the village you can choose from several restaurants to enjoy a well earned drink and snack.

Very warm welcome from people we felt loved their region and their products ! We could try 3 different white wines from the region which were very different in taste before we decided to buy our favourite. Very nice settings too ! Well done team !

Did not enter but the village worths a lot to visit. In Melgaço you can fuel car for less. There´s is traditional market first friday of October. There´s are plenty of restaurants near the Museum and the views are very nice.

A small church hiding in the middle of all the Melgaço green. A nice place to stop see the view, walk around and visit the simple but beautiful church. Most of the time the church is closed. The interior it's also simple.

with an hour to spare in melgaco we had a wander around the castello. stunning views into spain and the hills beyond from on top of the walls....lots of photo opportunities.....careful if you take kids as the walls have no barriers and the stairs up are not for the feint hearted!....and it was free!

This winery is a cooperative that blends the grapes from many small vineyards in the local area. Our guide was new to the winery but she did a fantastic job of introducing us to the whole range of wines they produce at Quintas de Melgaço. She spent a lot of time with us on the tour and, lucky for us, she spoke fluent English. Quintas de Melgaço produces a large number of bottles ranging from very reasonably priced to more expensive. It’s not a family winery but it’s a great chance to explore many different varieties of wine with a smart, enthusiastic guide.
