Fun place to go and drive around in the car. Remember, you cannot go deep into water as flooding the engine will be bad. You can still drive on the sand and a little bit into the water

There are couple of small shops close by offering tea and some snacks

There is an entry fees of 40₹

They are building a new promenade which will be good to walk on in the future

Palakkayam Thattu is undoubtedly one of the best top stations I have ever visited. Perched at an altitude of 3,500 feet above sea level, this breathtaking location offers views that are nothing short of astonishing. From the top, you can literally see the entire valley sprawling out below, creating a mesmerizing panorama that captures the essence of Kerala’s natural beauty. The height of this station makes it feel like you’re on top of the world, with the landscape stretching out as far as the eye can see.

One of the most striking features of Palakkayam Thattu is the wind. It’s incredibly windy up here, which adds a unique dynamic to the experience. The wind sweeps across the landscape, making the whole scene feel alive and ever-changing. However, the same wind and harsh climate seem to have taken a toll on the facilities. While there were originally many amenities available, most of them now lie in ruins, possibly due to the relentless weather conditions. Despite this, the friendly staff are still very welcoming and helpful, ensuring that your visit remains enjoyable.

Parking is plentiful, making it easy to access this stunning viewpoint. Palakkayam Thattu is also making a name for itself in the tourism sector, carving out a new identity for Kannur, a region traditionally known for its rich cultural heritage of Theyyam and Thira. With its novel tourism programs, this place is becoming a must-visit destination for those seeking both natural beauty and a connection to the local culture.

Palakkayam Thattu is a remarkable spot that offers a one-of-a-kind experience. The views alone are worth the trip, and despite the weather-worn facilities, the overall experience is something that will stay with you long after you’ve descended back to sea level.

Payyambalam Beach is a beautiful beach located in Kannur, and is one of the city's major tourist attractions. It is a long beach, well suited for beach walking. Surfing and swimming are also options for those who are interested. This beach attracts plenty of visitors, but is surprisingly well maintained

Thottada beach is a hidden gem, a pristine stretch of coastline that offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s a idyllic setting with soft sands, mild waves, and great sunset views.

One of the best things about this beach is the lack of crowds. You can truly relax and unwind without any distractions. The experience is unparalleled, making it the perfect spot for meditation, yoga, or simply soaking up the sun.

Whether you're a beach bum, a nature lover, or simply seeking some peace and quiet, this is the perfect destination.

There are two temples on either side of the banks of river BAVALI. VADAKKESHWARAM temple, also called as IKKARE KOTTIYUR temple. This temple is a permanent structure and open through the year
The legend says that this place is blessed by THRIMOORTY’S. Lord Bramha, Lord Vishnu came here to pacify Lord Shiva at this place where Sati devi immolated herself at Daksha Yagna. As all the divinities i.e. Trimurthy’s & Bhagavathy met here it was called as KOODI + UURU which became KOTTIYUR over the years. The temple at this place was established by Lord Parashuram. The reason for establishing here was that the other side temple is Swambhu and prayers are offered only for 27 days in the month of Vyshaka, rest of the year it is closed.
The kottiyoor temple is one of its kind located inside reserve forest. Kottiyoor temple is real wonder the location inside forest and the temple is opened only for few days in a year rest the area is covered with forests and wild animals rule the area. the you need to walk through water to enter the sacred sanctum. Luckily the temple is well preserved in its prehistoric style there are no long-standing structures in temple.
Vehicle parking is available. Accommodation is limited during the season but staying in nearby towns will be convenient. Combine your trip with a visit to the neighboring picturesque Wayanad just a few kms away.

A historic 16th century Portuguese fort, the site is located in the heart of the city. It is a well preserved fort and overlooks the Arabian Sea. The fort offers nice views of the ocean along the fortress wall. Tickets are Rs.25/- per person and parking is available. The fort is also known as Kannur Fort and is open to the public between 8 am and 5.30 pm

Located in Parassinikadavu, almost 18 kms. from Kannur city, this park needs more rides to get value for money. The giant wheel was not operational when I visited last week. In-house restaurant, though slightly expensive for the food provided, is okay. The staff was helpful throughout. The rates should be brought down in line with the rides offered.

One can combine a visit to Parassinikadavu Muthappan Temple, Snake Park and Vismaya in one go.

It's a cool place to hang out with family. Very reasonably priced and with adequate play zones and recreational facilities. Food stalls and boating in the beautiful river makes it a memorable outing. Would love to go back.

The climb to the top of the lighthouse was no easy feat. The narrow, winding staircase was a test of endurance – for middle aged me. However, the breathtaking panoramic view from the top was worth every step.

The lighthouse offered a stunning 360-degree vista of the sea, the beach, and the city skyline. The wind, the waves, the view all together created a truly mesmerizing atmosphere.

While the climb may not be suitable for everyone, especially older individuals or those with mobility issues, the reward for those who make the effort is great.

This lighthouse experience is a must-do for everyone visiting Kannur.

Parking is available at the entrance, there is a nominal entry fee, and waiting time maybe there during weekends. Oddly, there is ticket checking at the top, instead of at the entrance, so keep the ticket handy as you reach the top.

We landed on dharmadam by chance which was not much on itenary. After checking out few places we were not very happy and then thought of trying dharmadam.. To our surprise place was awesome with no one around. Amazed to see such a clean beach in India.. It is amazing...Try this place in early morning hours and you will get the best out of it. There is an island which is accessible by walk if the tides are not very high. Have a beach walk, meditate, feel serenity and come back after having a cup of tea in one and only local tea shop in the beach😊Happy travelling...

Was pretty hyped about snake park, but it didn't quite live up to the expectation. While they've got a good collection of snakes, big and small, the enclosures felt a bit plain. They could definitely use some more interesting settings to make the experience more exciting.

The information boards were okay, but they could be more interactive. Serves the purpose.

    Still, if you're a snake fan, it's worth checking out. Just don't expect a jaw-dropping, heart-pounding adventure.

There was a 4D theatre inside, which did offer some immersive experience for my kid.
